This is another post One Son angst-o-rama, which I have a bit of a penchant for. With the way Mulder behaved in One Son, I like to give Scully a pass to do whatever the fuck she wants to show Mulder what a stupid jerk he was. 🙂
Having Marita come to Scully is an ingenious plot point that you don't see very often, and it reinforces that Scully doesn't need Mulder. On the other hand, Mulder does need Scully, and the Lone Gunmen are there to help things along .
