While investigating the bizarre deaths of several women, Dana Scully listens to the crime scene evidence... a haunting yet beautiful song. The words of the song suddenly begin to have an unexpected effect on her, and without warning, Dana is deep within the world of her own contemplative thoughts... thoughts about her life, her past, her present, and whether or not her future will happily resolve the many inner storms raging inside her psyche.

I was pleasantly surprised by this series. I probably would never have read it had it not had a cover, despite being not averse to Tori's music. This is no gratuitous, sappy songfic, but angst-fuelled Scully!Torture with echoes of Never Again interspersed with lyrics from Tori Amos as part of the case being investigated. Scully becomes the subject of an X-File yet again, and they race to solve the case before Scully meets the same fate as the other victims.

To get more of a feel for the story, I've added as many songs as I could quickly pick out to a youtube playlist to accompany this story.

This fic won the 1999 Spooky Award for Outstanding Scully Characterization.

THE PLUGIN UPDATE HAS BEEN ROLLED BACK YET AGAIN. Today's update attempt was worse. I'll have to get back to the developer. Thanks again for your patience.
