Happy Mother's Day again. This is the bonus fic for the bonus fic posted last night. This is the original draft of Truly Madly Deeply, which Jenna left on her website as "Truly Madly Deeply - Classic Version" after completing her full revision.
Normally I wouldn't post the original version of a rewritten story but this is an exception for a number of reasons: Jenna retained both versions on her site, they're vastly different stories apart from the underlying premise, and this one is a good story in its own right.
You can safely read both versions without knowing what will happen, however as "TMD Redux" is far richer in detail, action and plot I'd strongly recommend reading the revised version before this one to keep up the level of suspense. This one is a little sappier and possibly smuttier but doesn't have the same level of action and suspense.

Happy Mother's Day. I decided to throw in another bonus fic for the occasion. I'm actually releasing this story on Saturday night in my part of the world because this fic has its own bonus fic that I'll release tomorrow some time. Sometimes I get exhausted trying to keep track of everything...
Because this one's on AO3 I'm just doing the one-volume PDF & ePub as I find it far more convenient to read them together in one hit.
In my effort to find extra bits and pieces, I tracked Jenna down to her current website MissLucyJane.com. It appears that she now exclusively focuses on gay romance fiction, so if that's your thing head on over.

I have the prologue and first five chapters of Part I of the barely-begun sequel, TMD: Carterhaugh. It did have me sucked in and I wanted to find out more about that door, but alas, the story hadn't progressed far enough to feel like it could even be used as an epilogue. It matters not, as TMD I-V provide adequate satisfaction, and were already an immense accomplishment for the author.
I'm not 100% certain on the main cover artist. It's not credited like the one by Sammy, so although the colour scheme is similar, I think it's Jenna's. (I did add Jenna's name to the bottom on the 'official' cover because it wasn't there and gave me a good excuse to make the aspect ratio 3:4, as is my compulsion).

While part of me wanted to reject the idea of long-distance travel in this circumstance as too unbelievable, I reminded myself that in the X-Files implausible travel situations are canon. You'll soon forget that anyway as you appreciate Scully's dedication to Mulder's cleanliness.
During a trip to England, Mulder and Scully find themselves trapped in the legendary court of Camelot. As they search for a way to return to their lives, Scully finds herself forgetting who she truly is.
You know how I am when it comes to posting fics that fit with special days.... With the coronation happening in the Great Britain on the weekend, I thought it only fitting to have Mulder and Scully head to the UK to do courtly things. I've decided to release this one early & I'll post another one on Monday.
Avalon manages to weave Mulder and Scully into Arthurian romance while they're holidaying in Wales. It takes imagination and talent to find a way to place our heroes in these completely different worlds without losing the characters we love.
I am happy to report that Avalon did achieve her dream of becoming an author whilst continuing to follow her spiritual path. She's published a few non-fiction books, as well as a novel. I like to promote works by fanfic authors without any traces from one to the other, so if you'd like to discover for yourself, if 'You Move' over to Avalon's Gossamer stories you should be able to find the information you need. I admit that I'm intrigued.
This story took me right back to my younger days of binge-reading MZB & visiting those legendary places; experiencing the ancient energy of Glastonbury and sunrise from the Tor... I'd love to get back there some day. If it wasn't for the 24-30 hours on a plane then equivalent time getting through immigration/customs at Heathrow I'd be a lot more enthusiastic. I need to find me a wormhole to zip through. Until then, I'm going to revel in my nostalgia by posting some more UK fics this week.

A very elaborate look at a younger Fox Mulder: profiling hotshot and total nutcase. So much is explained in this story about how Mulder came to be the brilliant but distrusting and somewhat paranoid person we see in the show.
It also answers a few questions you never thought to ask. Or is that what a dream is supposed to do? 🙂
The original online version of the story also had images in each chapter. Most images weren't saved, so I've had to guess from their file names & surrounding text etc what they were.

This case file set early in the cancer arc reprises the role of Atlanta Detective, Mike Thomas, from "Flights".
It takes me right back to that late-season-4 Scully who is determined to handle everything on her own and rebuff any attempts Mulder makes to make life easier for her, leaving him feeling lost as to how to deal with her illness himself. Although there's no MSR here it still comes with feels and captures the genuine platonic love between them, particularly when they spend time trapped together, believing it may be their end.
Blizzard: Mulder and Scully are caught in a blizzard in the middle of nowhere without any shelter.
Transfers: Mulder becomes "possessed" and hurts Scully.

This was originally supposed to be a series but unfortunately only two stories were written. It's a shame because she set up a really interesting scenario that I'd have liked to have seen play out more.
There are lots of the favourite tropes here, despite this being written way back in 1996. If it helps with considering the content warning in "Transfers", the actions warned about are outside Mulder's control and more of an X-File.
I love stories that don't fit into standard tags, but it makes it hard to entice readers with promises of certain events. I've also left off tags so as not to give things away.

Pru reminded me of just how envious I am of her cleverness and storywriting with this one. There is a gorgeous Mulder-Scully relationship here that tugs at the heartstrings as Pru tenderly takes us through the cancer arc with the added awkwardness of a sudden relationship change.
This was the story that I was getting vague memories of when reading AlienQueequeg's Gates of Hell but couldn't remember past that vague feeling of a similar circumstance. It was only that I was feeling warm & fuzzy after rescuing a kookaburra today that I put 'kookaburra' in my fanfic search program and this popped up. That kookaburra, currently recuperating at the RSPCA Wildlife Hospital, managed to bring me from worry to warm fuzzies twice today.
Usually Wednesdays are for short fics, but I didn't have another one ready to go so I figured that because Monday's release was relatively short it would all even out somewhere along the line....

I've always been a fan of Alanna's writing. It took me a few attempts to put all these stories into the right order, so hopefully I have it now. The stories were referred to along the way as part of a universe but were then gathered together on Alanna's website as the "Trilogy" series. Alanna using different names along the way didn't help matters. The series runs though a range of emotions as their relationship progresses.

I really don't have enough of Xenith's stories here. She wrote many a fabulous torture-smut story. I've been meaning to post Abattoir here for a long time but I haven't managed to wrangle all the multiple follow-up fics to that one yet. I was doing that right before the Great Hard Drive Crash of 2021, so I need to go back and find out where I was at with it.
In the meantime this is another angsty fic. This one is nowhere near as torturous as Abattoir (not many fics are to be fair). The dubcon in this one is definitely a LOT milder. Skinner accompanies them on the case as he's concerned after his dream, so he's there to witness some post-coital panic. I love me some Skinner!discovery.
Sea of Desire: At the request of a friend, and former professor, of Mulder's, Scully and Mulder travel to an island community off the coast of Maine to investigate the mysterious disappearance of several infant boys.
Those Who Love: People keep dying at a haunted farm in Connecticut.
More old fics, this time from 1995. Both stories are quite representative of their season 2 relationship, but the second one would never have made it onto one of CC's story boards. 😉 Also, try not to feel too sad about a future plot point that messes with the first fic.
I blame my ADHD for the 2 covers. I can't read fics without doing something else. I usually get my computer to read them out loud for me and do other stuff as I'm listening. I just happened to be playing in photoshop as I was listening to these, and each story was about the right time to create a cover, hence there are 2.

Some classic smuttiness for hump day this week. This one harkens back to Season 4's Gethsemane - Mulder is 'dead' and Scully has cancer, so they run off to Paris to escape the consortium.
The remaining members of the Consortium have a new, desperate plan. Mulder and Scully are at the center of these machinations, and they struggle to deal with the intimate relationship that results.

This can be quite the dark story at times. It's an often uncomfortable Mulder and Scully, floundering a little to find their place in each other's worlds with all the changes thrust upon them by the consortium, but they do find their stride often enough to satisfy. They do get put through a few trials though, and there are a few twists and turns at the end to keep you on the edge. It's definitely worth a read. I even managed to make it through the pregnancy/baby factor completely unscathed.
Mulder takes advantage of his birthday to manipulate Scully into a little hanky panky.
Donnilee delivers once again with this incredible gift to the fandom for Mulder's birthday. Poor Mulder's had a bad day... there's only one room at the motel, it's raining, he gets all Scully's clothes saturated... Eventually something has to go right 😉

There is a touch of Dreamland foreshadowing with this evocative, classic MSR fic, written in 1996. It's only rated PG-13 but still gives quite the mental stimulation. 🙂

Oh, it's lovely being off-grid in the rainforest, but this satellite internet is going to drive me crazy when I have to refresh 3 times to load or save anything. I'll have to see how it goes as far as uploading while I'm here.
I listened to this one during most of the drive up. I had no idea how long it was, but it kept me occupied as I drove and made me drive extra carefully during certain scenes as I didn't want to have to submit dashcam footage with M&S in explicit flagrante delicto if I happened to crash while that was going on.
Anyway, this one is case related, it's actually a crossover at times but you don't need to know the other source/s, and packed full of MSR. Be aware that some parts come with content warnings, which I've tried to add to the descriptions above.
I won't be able to add the web version for this one, due to its size and the internet issues that I'm not up for facing right now. 🙂 I can't add the extra artwork either...

Xfmaweezy has been a wonderful friend to me while I've been feeling less than awesome, and she sent me this fic to read when I was struggling with reading anything. I'm so glad she did. It certainly cleared me of the lingering angst I was feeling with the heaviness of the Goshen Universe fics. Tomorrow is my 28th X-Files anniversary. ? I was hooked when the pilot episode first aired in Australia on 17 February 1994. Thankfully I recovered from the personality defect that caused me to spend the first 5 years of the show as a noromo, to enable me to now relish in the raw purity that is unencumbered Mulder-Scully sex during the pilot episode.
ScullyGolightly wrote ten stories in the series; each of them is a standalone and just a bit of harmless fun. Although it hasn't been added to since 2019, I do hope there are still some yet to be written that will appear at the series link one day without warning...

I felt the need to lighten the mood a little, so I've gone with some smut-humour, or humoritca as I refer to it. I just adore this series by somekindofseizure. Mulder and Scully are temporarily assigned to "The jewel and art thief rich criminal James Bond Thomas Crown spy ring division" of the FBI, and are arguably the worlds worst spies. In their defense though, they have a lot of distractions to deal with. I'm LMAO just thinking about it.

On the run through the American Southwest, Scully and Mulder flee the shadowy forces of Owen Curran and Padden's government agents, who threaten their freedom and their lives. On the way, they must also struggle with their own demons, which threaten to tear them apart.
The Goshen saga continues, with a damaged Scully and protective, concerned Mulder on the run from both the bad guys and the good guys, dealing with the fallout from Secret World.
This one is quite a tough read, particularly straight after Secret World. Although this is third in the trilogy - spoiler alert - it's not a trilogy. 🙂

A Scully-centric fic that plays to Scully's strengths without turning her into a saint. Meanwhile, poor Mulder is struggling with the separation, and Skinner is having headaches trying to keep him out of trouble.
Bonetree writes a compelling story with some fascinating characters. As Scully gets deeper into the case, we feel Mulder's angst and desperation over his lack of control. There's also some wonderful Mulder-doctoring and caring for an injured Scully, and of course, some considered smut.
A harrowing night in the Virginia mountains makes Mulder and Scully relive parts of their pasts and rethink their future.
Note: The story itself is PG13 (language, violence); the Epilogue is NC17 (younger folks can skip the epilogue and still get the story.)

Hi guys. Sorry I've been MIA for so long. I realise it's been a month (there was an extra one I pre-loaded that appeared later) but I've been fighting the nasty brain demons after being made to take a long washout period from old meds before starting new ones. I'm feeling so much better now and want to get back into posting, but I'm not quite there yet. What I've decided to do to reduce the brain strain is post only links to stories that are on AO3 or ff.net for a little while. Most of these will be ones I already have covers for.
First up is one I've wanted to post for a long time but couldn't decide whether to post the full series t0gether here as well as link to AO3. My lack of brain helped make that decision for me. I didn't have a cover for Goshen, which surprised me, because I have covers for the rest of the Goshen universe. There likely was one at some stage, and if I come across it I'll upload it.

This includes the sequel, An Unchanged Soul, which actually brings the word count up to 203,000 words. This second story is unfinished, so it's up to you whether you embark on the extra 130,000 words knowing that there will be no ultimate resolution.
I don't usually read alternate universe stories, but I started this one without realising and had to keep reading.
This one had enough tension to keep me hooked the whole way. I've included the incomplete sequel. Mish tended to write a lot of stories at the same time, and consequently there are quite a few of hers that were never completed. I was tossing up whether to include this story here due to the disappointment when I found the sequel wasn't complete, but the original story is worthwhile. You can decide for yourself whether to keep reading.

When Mulder and Scully were unable to get a flight back to DC, they set off by car. Who could possibly have imagined that they'd be sidelined by the weather, and forced to stay in the only room available?

Formal dress, black tie, a bunch of boring federal agents pretending to be interesting for a night. And very convenient, about a hundred of us all in one place. Hope they haven’t received any bomb threats.”
Oh dear. I'm so scatterbrained right now I shouldn't even be allowed on the internet without supervision. This is my brain without drugs. 😀 I am persisting though, otherwise there'd be no updates until at least mid-January when I start taking my new medication. Wash out periods suck.
Anyhoo, the foreword of this fic mentions Fire and Ice by Jennifer Stoy. I quickly posted it here last night, then just now realised that it's already included in Shippers Digest 6: FBI Ball edition. I'm removing the standalone version, because there's no point having it here twice. However, I'll keep the html version of Fire and Ice here for easy reference, should you be curious.
This is a very early example of smutty MSR, written in 1995. It starts with the ever-popular FBI Ball trope before Scully takes Mulder to a cabin in a ski resort area to avoid being alone for Christmas. There's a little angst mixed in as roughage. Enjoy.
Mulder's behavior suddenly becomes erratic, his actions evasive as he forces Scully away from a case that's been given to him under mysterious circumstances. And eventually Fox Mulder is faced with the decision of a lifetime.
This is a hard-to-find story from Writergal2000; a mytharc fic set in season 6 with throwbacks to the DAT tape in Anasazi. There's a bit of unrest between the partners, as Scully gets fed up with Mulder's attempts to protect her. Things work out of course.

EPurSeMouve stabs you in the heart with this one. Then twists the knife. Then rips it right out of your body and stomps on it. There is a band-aid for you at the end though.
This season 4 end-of-the-X-Files imagining isn't really a whole lot worse than what Chris Carter did to them after "The Truth". It always bothered me when I thought of how difficult their lives would be on the run. The only difference then was that at least they had each other. I'm going to stop now before I cry again. Just make sure you're in a safe place before reading this.
This was one I'd originally intended to release at Halloween, but I was out gallivanting around the country instead. Never mind, it's a late Halloween, almost-Christmas and early Valentine's story.

Cheryl was a very early MSR fanfic author, with these stories written in 1994. All of her stories take place in the same universe, which begins after Mulder and Scully were split up at the end of Season One. Consequently there are some characters that developed a little differently in this universe, so you occasionally have to forget all you've learned of them since 1994. She's also quite determined to injure Mulder in multiple ways, which can be a lot of fun.
Annie shows up as co-author for the first time in "Oh, What A Night", and they team up to write more stories in Volume 2 and 3 together.
I did release "Devils Advocate" earlier this year, not realising that the other stories were related, so I'm re-releasing that one this week with an extra story added, along with "Neon" (Volume 3).

Bardsmaid passed away before this story could be completed. I've republished Topaz along with the first 3 parts of the series despite the lack of resolution as I really enjoyed reading where the story was heading. If you like your stories to have an ending, don't proceed.
Alternatively, you could consider this an epilogue to Sanctuary. If you don't want to read the whole thing only to be left hanging, I've marked a place in Chapter 3 on the PDF/EPUB versions that you can read to to give you the answer to some questions without opening too many new cans of worms. I actually got to the end of what's available and thought I'd missed copying some of it because I was so engrossed that I thought I'd only read 40,000 or so words rather than the 100,000 words I'd consumed.
Additionally, the prologue of Topaz is a vignette called "Half-Life" that was written separately to Topaz and can be read on its own.

This second volume contains part 3 of the Sanctuary series. You absolutely have to read them all in order so grab the first two parts here.
Bardsmaid managed to somewhat redeem Krycek in this one, bestowing some humanity on him without it feeling at all forced. By the time I got to this one I was all in and didn't even notice how long it was.
This includes the Sanctuary postscripts. As the sequel to Sanctuary was never completed, you may choose to end your journey here, but I strongly recommend that you keep going with Topaz.
BTW, I may have gotten confused with which tags belong on which volumes. I just recently re-read them all in one huge binge and can't remember what happened when...

And Alex Krycek insinuates himself into Mulder's life for reasons that are not immediately apparent.
Walking Through Fire: Determined to gain reinstatement at the Bureau, Mulder searches for a way to bring Cancer Man down while also confronting the grim reality of unemployment, and Scully's responsibilities increase as she juggles her new assignment with her continued support of her ex-partner's quest. But Skinner requests her forensic expertise in an ongoing investigation, saddling her with an additional burden that may prove more than she can bear. A ghost from Teena Mulder's past prompts her to finally open up to her son, though the information she offers has the potential to crush him. And Alex Krycek inadvertently provides the evidence Mulder needs to foil the Smoking Man.
The Sanctuary Trilogy+ is a masterpiece of fanfic by Bardsmaid. She appeared to have a real sense of comfort with the characters and not only did she make existing characters her own, she created rich, real characters that could have changed the trajectory of the show post Season 7 if only CC & co had thought of them. I can't help but wonder what S8 would have been like had they introduced a character like Agent Wilkins who was eager to help rather than antagonise.
This series diverges from canon at the beginning of Season 6, so all the usual favourites are involved in a complex mytharc plot. Take some time off and really immerse yourself in this one.
There are 4 parts to this series, which I've spit into three volumes. Whilst the Sanctuary Trilogy itself was completed, Topaz, the sequel Bardsmaid was writing at the time of her passing was not, but is included here as an optional extra.

I had a couple of little reservations with this one in the beginning, but once I remembered that plot holes are canon I was able to get right into it and enjoy it.

Khyber takes our agents to some original and unique places. He also gives the partners a fun and adventurous sex life without overdoing it, with a few short smutfics interspersed with the main stories. The angst is also tempered with the kind of off-the-cuff snark that Mulder likes to make, and Scully sometimes adopts, and all the ingredients are there for a very entertaining series.
This one's a little large for a story page, but the other usual options are available.

After the comparative angst of Livia's "Hem Ben Ik" I thought you might like a happy ending story. This has to bring a smile to your face, and it's surprisingly light on sap as Livia ties up more loose endings than CC did in 11 Seasons and 2 movies. 🙂

Another nice trip to the forest on a questionable quest leads our agents into danger. Although there's no smut in this one, there's a lot of other action, and a little insane jealousy on Mulder's part that distracts him, leaving them more vulnerable.
Mulder, driven by a need to understand what really happened to his father, decides to head back to the silo (Piper Maru/Apocrypha) to find Alex Krycek, who he's convinced he heard crying out when he and Scully were there.

As stated in the author's notes, her wish was to explore the M/S relationship in a way that it "gives them a kind of mystical strength, one that frightens the powers that be, one that could actually help them in their quest for the truth"
Whilst their first time is under less than perfect circumstances, it connects them in a special way that continues through the challenges they face in the rest of the stories. I do have a special love for an early connection between our agents, and this one feels right for them.
Mulder and Scully are on loan to the VCU, on the trail of a couple killer.

This fic puts our agents into a situation where they are forced to make what they can of an otherwise unbearable situation, and in doing so strengthen their trust. Livia treats them with love and compassion and has them come out on top as only Mulder and Scully can.
I often anguish over whether to publish an author's name where google can find it. It usually comes down to how common the name is. I was on the fence with this one as so much fic comes up on google anyway, but I couldn't be sure that it wasn't a unique name, so I chose to be cautious. Whilst I've edited the name displayed on this site, it's still on the image where google can't see it, and in the downloadable documents.
However, I did find this entry in the urban dictionary that I found amusing and thought I'd share.

This is an epic early story, beginning in Season 2, so it involves some characters who never made it far into Season 3. It's quite a complicated story, to match its name, as it involves time travel and parallel universes, which always make my head spin. It can get quite concerning MSR-wise at points, but you have to trust that they'll find a way. But I admit to being very glad that an epilogue was added...

Picks up from Biogenesis and tells the story of a long and perilous journey—both inner and outer. All good journeys begin with clarity.
After realising how much smut I'd put in my July Fic Frenzy I'm trying to end with some smut-free fic. This is ringfic, with Fowley as Mulder's ex-wife. Scully rescues Mulder from the hospital post-Biogenesis before going to a hideout where Mulder details his life after Samantha and before Scully.
Scully gets called out to San Diego to help on a case and Mulder, though still recovering, tags along. Detective John Kresge wasn’t expecting the extra baggage.
This is an all-time favourite fic that I was reminded of recently. I just love the characterisation embraced by these two long-standing XF fanfic authors: Mulder is constantly tortured but still tries to play at Alpha Male -being very possessive of Scully whilst feeling threatened and vulnerable, Scully is caught between Mulder and the rest of the civilised world, Kresge is an overbearing sexist pig, Maggie is the all-knowing peacemaker, and Bill Jr is at his belligerent, blustering best. This all adds to the humour and makes this case file an extremely entertaining read.
Waking up in a deserted park in the middle of the night, Mulder's mind is a blank. As he and Scully struggle to put the pieces of his memory together, evidence builds into a criminal case against Agent Mulder. While the partners search for the truth, Mulder begins to doubt his own innocence.
(I know, reminiscent of Demons, but too great an episode not to parallel. This is different in its own right -- trust me.)
!Content Warning: There are quite detailed descriptions of sexual assault by or of Mulder, (depending on the POV).
It's not hard to think of Demons when the story begins, but it soon takes you to a whole 'nother place. Mulder has a hard time fighting accusations against him, not knowing how much of it's true. But, honestly, either Mulder needed a better lawyer or I watch too many true crime shows. 😉
A continuation of Requiem. Mulder is abducted and Scully receives some incredible news... naturally she reaches out to some friends for support.
Scully teams up with people she can trust, Susan and Michael who were introduced in "Old Friends". It's much nicer to think that Scully had people to support her during Mulder's absence.

This is an early X-Files fanfic classic, written by the talented LoneGunGuy in 1996. This one isn't for the faint of heart, it can get dark. With imaginations as twisted as those of some fanfic authors, I'm so glad they're putting them into good use rather than letting them roam the streets creating havoc. 😉
I can have mixed feelings regarding the mytharc on the show that makes me shy away from reading stories dealing with aliens and cloning and all that stuff, but there are many, like this one, that blow it out of the water.
Sadly, to my knowledge, a sequel to this story was never forthcoming.

Scully has understandably mixed feelings about the whole thing, and they have to process those feelings whilst stuck together, heavily reliant on one another. Lots of delicious angst...

A lesser known story by PC Rasmussen, this one's possibly heavier on the Scully!Torture than the Mulder!Torture for a change. 🙂 Although it's rated R by the author, I'd put it closer to a PG-13.
An unexpected death begins a terrible journey for Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, one that threatens to tear their faith, their beliefs and their partnership apart.
There is a character death or two, but nobody major. Let's just say Bill's lost some of his bluster in this one.
Syn brings us an engaging mytharc story with twists and turns and up and downs (mostly downs) as Scully is living a waking nightmare of betrayal and emotional torture, while Mulder is fighting to be believed. An excellent story set shortly after Emily, and featuring a slightly annoying Detective Kresge.
A mysterious tip leads Mulder and Scully into a web of danger and unexpected twists. Have they found what they had always wished for? ... or is the price too high?

Mulder decides to take some of the Scully family members away for a vacation. Maggie decides that Mulder and Scully should vacation alone. She does end up joining them in Vegas though, and the real action begins there. While this is a crossover, Nicole doesn't want to give anything away too early, and it's not necessary to have knowledge (or memory) of the other situation.

Mulder & Scully, undercover as a couple on a honeymoon cruise. This story riffs off just about every fanfic cliche we could think of. We did this on purpose, and hopefully it will be obvious we wouldn't have been able to write this if we didn't love fanfic enough to have read lots and lots of stories over the past few years. It's also very long. We hope it's amusing enough to justify both of these things - it sure cracked us up!
This is the cruise fic to end all cruise fics. Actually, this could be the tropey fanfic to end all tropey fanfics.
The first time I read this story I think I was a little impatient to get to the RST, and completely missed so much of the journey. The UST goes well past any healthy person's frustration levels, but bear with it and just try to enjoy the wild ride.
While Mulder and Scully are undercover on a honeymoon cruise for couples who postponed their wedding 3 or more times, they're subjected to Julie from the Love Boat and the indignity of many couples seminars before accidentally getting married and becoming living legends. I don't have enough tags to do this story justice, (although admittedly I left a couple off and I have to force myself to stop typing now so I don't spoil everything in it. ) It's also funny how prescient some of their humorous suggestions are. For those of us who love a good fanfic trope, this is the holy grail.

Ten bodies are found buried outside an abandoned hospital in Northern California, all desecrated in a way that is reminiscent of horrifying medical experiments that took place there almost fifty years ago. While navigating the complexities of a changing relationship, Scully and Mulder work to uncover a long-buried evil and hope to solve a cold case that has haunted Scully for years.

A Sunday bonus fic just because it's a relatively recent fic from AO3 and I loved it.
Alienqueequeg sounds like she had to research an entire paper or two to write this one. The flashbacks to life with Melissa gave it extra depth as well. As a bat carer and having rabies first aid drilled into me I kept wanting to yell at my screen to flush out the wound rather than band-aid it and had to keep reminding myself that that's probably irrelevant when someone's not bitten. I can however confirm that it's hard to miss the feel of those little batty teeth when they bite... but I suppose they could just spit into an open wound. 😉 OK I'm rambling again. Just go read it if you haven't already.

Once again, TexxasRose brings on the Muldertorture, then she ups the stakes when things are starting to go well and tortures them both. There's a little actual torture involved as well as the beginnings of sexual assault, but nothing too graphic. Mulder gets a kitten, so that should make up for the unsavoury events. 😉

Once upon a time there was a vignette. And when the vignette was posted, there were pleas for a sequel. However, the author had no ideas for a sequel, so she let a friend write it. The sequel then inspired the original author, so she wrote more. And so it went, back and forth, until the original vignette became . . . After Midnight.
Mulder is repentant after Two Fathers/One Son. Scully forgives him, a little at a time. They have to rebuild trust. This series takes you through season six from One Son onwards.

I'm surprised that it's taken me 2 years to post some TexxasRose fics, as she was quite prolific in her writing, although she had numerous name changes at the time in an effort to avoid her own personal stalker. She was also a long time keeper of Mulder in Jeopardy.
This stalker series focuses on Mulder this time, and has lots of twists and turns for your enjoyment.
Scully's getting stalked, and when she disappears, Mulder finds their relationship under suspicion, whilst he searches for her. Meanwhile, she's not inclined to just sit back and wait to be rescued.
This is a fic I came across whilst I was searching for another story, and I'm very glad I did. I usually avoid established relationship fics because I like a bit of excitement, IYKWIM, but there's no lack of that with this pair, despite them being together almost 2 years at the time this is set.
There's the angst of Mulder and Scully both being in danger, then more angst when nobody would believe Scully had been kidnapped, thanks to some bruising left by Mulder. 😉 After Mulder is sidelined by the bureau, our agents have to each rely on their wits to get back to each other. A++++
