This story is actually set between Mother's Day and Memorial Day. The buzzing begins. No not the normal buzzing you'd read in Bandon's or Shannon's stories, but the buzzing of bees. The authors practised so much restraint, managing to stay into smut with this beginning of colonisation tome. That's not to say there's no romance...
Sadly, it took me 4 days to finish uploading this, and during that time I've forgotten half the tags, and might have put some in from the book I read after this one. Trying to get my brain to co-operate right now is like trying to get a toddler with ODD crossed with a rebellious teen to do something they don't want to do, despite my wanting to do it. All I can do is wait it out and try some reverse psychology on myself (which often works LOL). In the meantime, releases may slow down a little. I do have some uploads that weren't released to try to keep things going through my brain-rebellion, so maybe in that time I'll regain have some function back. 🙂
An important section of the (then) upcoming movie, (FTF) from the author’s point of view.
This fic, bestowed with Fight the Future's working title, was written before FTF screened, with a few late additions once "The End" and the movie preview aired. Alas, Mr Carter decided to take them on a slightly different course.

Mulder and Scully go undercover as a married couple, acting like irresponsible 20-somethings. Moose & Squirrel get closer, but they really have to work on that glitch in one particular frequency of their silent communication...
Halloween. A little exposed skin, tentative conversation, a bag of candy and a lesson in sharing. Even though Mulder and Scully don't have sexual intercourse, NoRomos will likely want to run screaming right about now.
I couldn't resist another Halloween fic. This is a classic Halloween offering in the stakeout genre, but I'm not sure whether it's a trick or a treat. 🙂 Hopefully it's not too chilly for cold showers at this time of year.
Sorry I did go a bit full pr0n on the cover, possibly due to my own frustrations, but I did try to hide it under lots of twizzlers...

I love the premise of this one. Scully is charged with keeping Mulder occupied, away from DC. She has to resort to extreme measures to constrain an insolent Mulder. The UST is off the charts.

While on a case in Las Vegas, Mulder and Scully achieve some professional - and personal - goals. Basically, this is the way I would like to see the TV series end, then see future movies, etc. take off from this point.
There is no way I'm going to list all 50 summaries here. Angela creates her own little universe that continues to cross paths with season 6 & 7 canon, often as part of a bigger universe including some crossovers.
I'm stuck in the wet tropics for extra time, with the rain pouring down, and since I no longer have my daily bat-feeding chores I'm going to try to do some more uploads.
I had this fic playing in my car using text-t0-speech and I had to turn it off when it started making the cassowaries and crocodiles blush. There is some A-Grade smut in this one. Although this fic is a little mushy in places for my liking, that's purely my preference, and I know some of you will particularly enjoy this entire series. A few of the individual stories are still standouts in my view regardless of their marital or family status. 🙂

Oh, it's lovely being off-grid in the rainforest, but this satellite internet is going to drive me crazy when I have to refresh 3 times to load or save anything. I'll have to see how it goes as far as uploading while I'm here.
I listened to this one during most of the drive up. I had no idea how long it was, but it kept me occupied as I drove and made me drive extra carefully during certain scenes as I didn't want to have to submit dashcam footage with M&S in explicit flagrante delicto if I happened to crash while that was going on.
Anyway, this one is case related, it's actually a crossover at times but you don't need to know the other source/s, and packed full of MSR. Be aware that some parts come with content warnings, which I've tried to add to the descriptions above.
I won't be able to add the web version for this one, due to its size and the internet issues that I'm not up for facing right now. 🙂 I can't add the extra artwork either...
Set 1995, following End Game. As Mulder recovers from his brush with death, across town, Scully uncovers a moment from his past. The Best Years of our Lives meets Magnificent Obsession Mulder and Scully style. An alternative universe story, set in the 1940s.
This includes the sequel, An Unchanged Soul, which actually brings the word count up to 203,000 words. This second story is unfinished, so it's up to you whether you embark on the extra 130,000 words knowing that there will be no ultimate resolution.
I don't usually read alternate universe stories, but I started this one without realising and had to keep reading.
This one had enough tension to keep me hooked the whole way. I've included the incomplete sequel. Mish tended to write a lot of stories at the same time, and consequently there are quite a few of hers that were never completed. I was tossing up whether to include this story here due to the disappointment when I found the sequel wasn't complete, but the original story is worthwhile. You can decide for yourself whether to keep reading.
Phoebe Green is back and Scully isn't having it. Phoebe tries to enlist Mulder's help with a case and gets the agents engtangled in an international crime.

Phoebe seems to trigger Scully, no matter how hard she tries to rationalise it. Of course, anyone daring to hurt her Mulder will suffer the wrath of Scully. Mulder and Scully are reluctant to take this case brought to them by Phoebe Green, especially when everyone involved in the case seems to have the worst timing.
A body fell from a great height. But no one knows who it is or where it came from.
This is a truly magnificent work of fiction, featuring Pissy!Scully and SomewhatObliviousButTrying!Mulder. I guarantee that you'll want to read it more than once.
I've been meaning to post some Julie Fortune fics for so long that I was sure I'd already done so. Apparently not. This is a massive oversight that I'll have to make up for.
No summary provided, so here's my TV Guide version:
The Lone Gunmen help sort out the whole Diana issue and help play cupid, but just as things are finally working out, Scully is plagued by ever-worsening nightmares.
Frohike wanted to give Byers a chance to cut loose, or as she put it "get that steel rod removed from his ass", and this was the result. Byers plays a big part in this X-File, in which Scully is tortured once again.
This is set after the events of One Son, and it's quite satisfying that Scully's concerns are validated. I also confess to a few little chuckles over place names in this story.
‘He looked up at her, his expression unreadable. “Ever wonder why things happen?” At Scully’s confused look, he continued, “I mean, why things happen at specific times? Why people show up when they do?” Mulder leaned in toward her as he spoke.’
This was the oldest outstanding story on by "to read" list as I was a little worried about the Mulder/other factor, but I finally read it and it's definitely MSR. Mulder's ex-girlfriend is in the story, and there's some sexual tension between them, but they're both with other people now. 🙂 I have a feeling that I'd read the interlude, which is Mulder/other, and that gave me the wrong idea. Although the interlude isn't part of the original story, it was written before Part 21 but I've placed it at the end as an optional extra.
The woman at the centre of this story is a likable, interesting character, who works with Mulder and Scully on a case, before working on their personal relationship.
I haven't managed to get my hands on the original book cover created by Nessa, so if you have a copy I'd love to include it here.

Scully has an itch to scratch, but has trouble getting the right spot.
AUTHORS’ NOTE: Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away … Oh, wait a minute, that’s a different story … Ah yes, how to explain Colors … Let’s just say that we decided if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, but let’s do it tongue firmly in cheek. Yes, there’s lots of firm things in this, and soft luscious goodies, and all the deep cerulean pools one could ever hope to gaze into. That’s right, we wrote a romance … well, as close to a romance as you’ll probably ever get out of this bunch of non-romantics.
Actually, it’s more about sex and comedy than romance, but we honestly are trying to get Mulder and Scully together. They’re just … just … guess you’ll just have to read to find out.
There's no other story quite like this round robin written in 1995. I'm still laughing from just attempting to come up with a summary. There's not much more I can say that the authors haven't said above. If you like some fun, burlesque smut, read it NOW. Even if you've already read it.

Scully has understandably mixed feelings about the whole thing, and they have to process those feelings whilst stuck together, heavily reliant on one another. Lots of delicious angst...

Book One: Mulder and Scully have to fight for their positions on the X-Files.
Book Two: Part One - Thanksgiving + Part Two - Christmas (to Chapter 14 - last updated Dec 12, 2004)
Although this edition has an additional part to those available at Gossamer, it comes incomplete. While it didn't make it to its final destination, it does have a satisfactory ending.
Book One of this series is a doozy. Full of delicious angst and heartbreak after Mulder and Scully are caught in a compromising position.
It does lose momentum in Book Two, probably because it never made it to where it was going; Book Two and the planned Book Three were never completed. You may want to stick with Book One only, but it's worth adding the opening of Book Two as an epilogue, both for the humour and to know where things ended up after the preceding angstfest. 😉

Nascent's evil side takes over and she goes on a rampage of character death, in a multitude of imaginative ways. Both beloved and detested characters suffer at the hands of Dark Nascent, and I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times.
Nascent breaks all the fanfic rules with this series, but she pulls it off magnificently.
Mulder and Scully investigate some deaths during the Season 4 cancer arc, post Elegy and pre-Demons.
This is one of my favourite authors and stories. It hits the ground running, and keeps up the pace through the whole marathon.
Just as a sidenote, if you're undergoing chemotherapy, please seek your doctor's advice regarding the use of condoms before you and your partner do the wild thing in the morgue. 😉
Eponine119's Dares series has our agents messing around and exacting revenge on one another, with some fun and games sprinkled into a very drawn out game of Truth or Dare. A bit of a flippant, humourous tale, that finishes as they realise that they don't need the games after all.
Since I already had this one combined and ready to go, I figured an extra day of PWP for world peace won't go astray. This is one of those fics that I remembered being better than I found it on my recent re-read. Eponine119 has a lot of magnificent stories, but I'm not sure this early fic, written in 1995, quite reaches that standard. It could just be that my expectations were higher, so if I lower yours you might enjoy it more. 😉 It's a little on the juvenile side, but if you're after total escapism it might be just the thing...

This fic follows the ups and downs during the 12 days from the post-Zombie kiss in Millennium. Poor Mulder suffers a few indignities, but he's nothing if not resilient.
This story finishes off my 14 festive days of fics I challenged myself to post to get myself in the swing of things again. I'm aiming to get back to posting 3 times a week, but I still haven't managed to get back to reading emails again. Fingers crossed that I get there soon. I have important emails to send too. 🙂

Scully's in San Diego for Thanksgiving when Mulder's sent there to profile a baby killer. Once again, Scully doesn't get a vacation and ends up babysitting Mulder. Vickie has Mulder in full-on psycho profiling mode in this one, with an added degree of physical difficulty, all while staying at Bill Jr's house.
You may have noticed that I haven't been uploading regularly since returning from my time away with the bats. I'm behind in everything at home and struggling to get back into routine. I'll get back on top of it all once I stop beating myself up over it. 🙂
A Normal Halloween: This is a stand-alone story of Mulder's and Scully's
'normal' 1999 Halloween. Set after "The Sixth Extinction" but is a prequel for "Winter I: The Riddle"
Winter I: The Riddle: Mulder finds an X-file to distract him from the pain of Thanksgiving memories and Scully unexpectedly agrees to join him in investigating it. The experience turns into more than the simple diversion they planned. A darker mystery presents itself and threatens to expose more of their own emotions than they want to reveal.
Winter II: More than Glass: Mulder and Scully find themselves dealing with the issue they have successfully avoided for seven years -- their exclusive attachment to each other and their mutual physical attraction.
With this Halloween fic you get an extra Thanksgiving story, so keep that in mind when I forget to do one for Thanksgiving. 🙂
Branwell gives us a Mulder and Scully who have been worn down both from years of fighting malevolent forces and being unable to share the repeated trauma with anyone else without ridicule and disbelief. They're reluctant to trust anyone, including each other for fear of inflicting more pain. They're ruled by their own insecurity and question whether they can even trust themselves.
I don't mean to put you off at all; it's actually a very real Mulder and Scully considering what they've been through, and there is such beauty in their tragedy. Branwell doesn't put them through too much torture in these stories, but their actions and reactions are those of tortured souls. There is real feeling in the way they treat each other, and underneath it all there's their deep abiding love. Eventually they find what they need in each other.

This is a lovely USTy case file in which Beduini cruelly does a CC and interrupts them just when things are getting interesting 😉 At least they have their typical verbal intercourse going on...
Mulder and Scully have to catch a bad guy at the Highland Games. Scully convinces him that he has to wear a kilt to blend in. Discomfort and comfort ensue.
Sometimes I can't help myself and include some naughtiness on my covers, with an attempt to make it tasteful. Apologies to PDF readers, I can't make the cover not stretch over the whole page and therefore there may be a lot of butt in your face when you open the file.

Five months after recovering from cancer, Scully abruptly left Washington — and Mulder — for a position at the LA field office. Mulder never understood why. Two years later, he'll have his chance to find out.
This is a fabulous brand new fic by a first time author. It combines a case file with some intense relationship angst and some likeable (and loathable) original characters.
There is some artwork at the end of the fic on AO3 but I won't post it here because it might be a bit spoilery. 🙂

XGirl's thoughts on the Post-Fight the Future X-Files (and even post Redux) very much mirror my own. It lost momentum. It tried to crush the Mulder-Scully dynamic, before going on to crush their spirits and change their beliefs. Her website, xgirl's x-files x-perience, has an analysis of each episode, both on the original watch and a rewatch on the 20th anniversary. The Crossing Lines universe is her attempt to fix up some of the wrongs in Seasons 6 and 7.

After yesterday's mytharc fic, I figured some irreverent fun times were in order. Jori & Mojo take the spirit of the baseball lesson at the end of The UnNatural and run wild with it. These stories are overflowing with UST and innuendo and inappropriate partnerly behaviour in various settings until Moose & Squirrel finally figure out what the lessons are really about. 😉

Trixie made the one on the right. Unfortunately the original no longer exists, only a thumbnail (which is smaller than an actual thumbnail), however Trixie's description below might let you imagine it better 🙂
