Memorial Day by Brandon D Ray & shannono

75,000 Words

Memorial Day cover

The Date is here.

Wishing those Stateside a happy Memorial Day, if that's the appropriate greeting.

This story is actually set between Mother's Day and Memorial Day. The buzzing begins. No not the normal buzzing you'd read in Bandon's or Shannon's stories, but the buzzing of bees.  The authors practised so much restraint, managing to stay into smut with this beginning of colonisation tome. That's not to say there's no romance...

Buzzing Bee gif

Sadly, it took me 4 days to finish uploading this, and during that time I've forgotten half the tags, and might have put some in from the book I read after this one. Trying to get my brain to co-operate right now is like trying to get a toddler with ODD crossed with a rebellious teen to do something they don't want to do, despite my wanting to do it. All I can do is wait it out and try some reverse psychology on myself (which often works LOL). In the meantime, releases may slow down a little. I do have some uploads that weren't released to try to keep things going through my brain-rebellion, so maybe in that time I'll regain have some function back. 🙂

10 Reasons & Starry Night by Blackwood

22,500 Words

10 reasons & Starry Night cover

Ten Reasons: On a late night flight home, Scully tries to convince herself that a platonic relationship is just fine. Mulder has other ideas.

Starry Night: Mulder makes good on a promise. Follow up to Ten Reasons, although it stands alone quite nicely.

Blackwood only put her non-smut stories on ff-net under the name Lorelai is Sleeping", consequently only "10 Reasons" is there so I haven't added it as a main link.

Season 6, the flight home from Arcadia. Mulder's been getting on her nerves playing at being her husband while Scully's still trying to recover from the whole Diana being a traitor and his not believing her thing.

Blackwood is more reasonable than I am about the One Son events. She uses logic to put things in perspective and her approach still gets our partners to where they should be, allowing them to pay more attention to what they're doing. 🙂

Late Night at the High Noon by Mike Ghost

11,000 Words

Late Night at the High Noon cover

A long night, an empty motel lot in a desert, and music that never stops. Fear is not what always goes bump in the night, or what lies in the shadow behind every tree in an unlit park, or even the hand that reaches below our bed at night. Fear is often personal... close to the heart. Find out what awaits Mulder and Scully at the end of the late night in the High Noon Stay.

This one's a rare treat. The PDF file was painstakingly typeset on 'non-wood paper' by Mike.  Although Mike's rated it higher, it's more implied smut so I've left if at his lower rating.

I finally did some site upgrades this weekend and despite there being an unintended change to most of the book pages it's come through unscathed, which is fortunate because I totally annihilated the test site I tried it out on first. My poor little brain is so overtaxed that there's no way I can make sense of anything else until I've had a good few days' sleep.

Motives by abracadabra

15,500 Words

Motives cover

Scully becomes suspicious about Mulder’s behaviour.  This is set right after The Beginning but it's not intended to be a post-ep.

Mulder is being secretive and Fowley is being Fowley. Some Season 6 frustration to counteract the valentiney start to the week. 🙂 I'm like the Grinch when it comes to Valentine's Day LOL.

I'm still not on top of things unfortunately. I'm trying to push past lingering exhaustion to keep posts coming and I'm going to make an effort to get to messages on the weekend.  I have a heap of excellent stories that I want to post, I just have to be able to at least speed-read them first to remember what tags I need to add, which is hard when I'm struggling to stay awake. Ugh, old woman problems.

Nine Days In February by Rah

14,000 Words

Nine Days in February cover

Ten stories of  nine days over nine years.

Valentines Day from 1994 to 2002. 2002 actually features two stories: "Joy & Happiness" by Rah and "Greener" by Sagan.

These stories came as part of a Valentine's Day special at the long-defunct justduckies.org  in 2002. Rah takes us through the years and the different phases of their relationship, culminating in two stories in 2002, one by Rah and the other by Sagan.

How I Slept With My Partner (Without Really Trying) by JL

110,000 Words

How I Slept With My Partner cover

"How I Slept With My Partner (Without Really Trying)" is just the "secret-header-name" for some notes Jose Chung is gathering for his next fiction novel. He's asked me, Jaime Lyn, to conduct a few interviews for him, as he is sick at home with the flu. All personal accounts contained, herein, are the property of Dana Katherine Scully and Fox William Mulder. The names will be changed, of course, but the accounts will most likely remain intact. This story includes the previously authored "How to Blend in With Normal People".

I quite enjoy a deliberate Mary-Sue. This is a long fic, with a complicated Mulder and Scully and all their baggage interwoven with humour. It does get quite angsty in places.

I know it's hard to believe, but this is actually a season 8/9 fic (sans Doggett & Reyes) in which William exists.  It must be a Christmas miracle.

Christmas in Space by Jennifer-Oksana & Christmas in Silver by DashaK

6,000 Words

Christmas in Space|Silver cover

Christmas in Space by Jennifer-Oksana: Mulder and Scully get into the good eggnog.

Christmas in Silver by Dasha K: Silver is a good color on Mulder. A wholesome tale that follows Jennifer-Oksana’s “Christmas in Space.”

Just a quick Christmas Day release.

Mulder has a sudden change of heart about celebrating the festive season and decides to treat Scully better.  Scully's happy to go along with it. These are two very different stories - Jennifer goes for the romance whereas Dasha finishes off with full-on smut, as well as a recipe for "Tastier-than-Scully French Toast."

Edit: Oops, I forgot there was a name change for an author of this story - updates have been made to online material. As this name is used on AO3, I'm presuming it's OK to use online.

Trilogy Series by Alanna

27,000 Words

Trilogy Series cover
  • LAUGHING: A celebration of life.
  • ALEGRIA: A celebration of happiness.
  • INSIDE:A chaise-longue and a dream.
  • BURN: Inflaming of hearts and minds.
  • MILLION: The many sides of a person.
  • SEMANTICS: Memory is subjective and fallible.
  • PHOTOS:  Ringfic.  I admit it.  But with a slightly different twist.
  • SCARS: Fires cannot destroy the scars of experience.
  • OUTSIDE: A sequel to Inside
  • POSITIVE: The creation of life.

Some of the vignettes are post-eps for various Season 5 episodes.

I've always been a fan of Alanna's writing. It took me a few attempts to put all these stories into the right order, so hopefully I have it now. The stories were referred to along the way as part of a universe but were then gathered together on Alanna's website as the "Trilogy" series. Alanna using different names along the way didn't help matters. The series runs though a range of emotions as their relationship progresses.

Unfortunately the original image for this series didn't get saved to the wayback machine.

My Way or the Highway by Rachel Anton

36,000 Words

My Way or the Highway cover

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

Note: Whilst this is an MSR overall, that's not its primary focus. This is dark and dirty... it features a very disillusioned Scully who is looking for reassurance elsewhere when she's not getting it from Mulder. No hearts and flowers here.

You know I like a side of angst, particularly when Mulder's being an ass in early season 6. This story documents an unconventional road trip with both Scully and Krycek feeling a little bitter over their circumstances.

Birthday Blues by Donnilee

10,000 Words

Birthday Blues cover

Mulder takes advantage of his birthday to manipulate Scully into a little hanky panky.

Donnilee delivers once again with this incredible gift to the fandom for Mulder's birthday.  Poor Mulder's had a bad day... there's only one room at the motel, it's raining, he gets all Scully's clothes saturated... Eventually something has to go right 😉

Unexpected Bedfellows by Invisigoth421

Unexpected Bedfellows cover

Mulder and Scully wake up in bed together… and have no idea how they got there.

A special bonus fic for Mulder's birthday. This is just a silly, fun one, with Moose & Squirrel bickering over the state they found themselves in. I also like an excuse to get Mulder (and Scully) naked... even if it's only in photoshop...

There'll be a smuttier birthday fic for tomorrow's release. If you're one of those people who like to open presents early you can click on the "Mulder's Birthday" tag in the box above and it will display all the birthday stories, including tomorrow's. 🙂

Schizophrenic Series by JLB

14,000 Words

Schizophrenic Series cover

SCHIZOPHRENIC: Scully deals with her split personalities, and what it means for she and Mulder.

BREAKDOWN: Tonight we’re different. Mulder will not speak.

TREATMENT: Mulder gives Scully what she wants…

SHATTERED: Was it a mistake?”

JLB was pissy with Mulder after "One Son" at the writing of this series.  As a result, we were blessed with a moody, desperate series of stories, with our heroes seemingly losing themselves and each other.  They take their discontent out on each other sexually while they try to work through their issues.

Storm in the Teacup by Queen Mab

Bend in the Road (The) by Kelly K

12,000 Words

Bend in the Road cover

I am angry right now. I’m not sure what galls me the most—that Mulder left and made me worry about him, that he ditched me to be with Diana Fowley, or how I reacted when I learned that he hadn’t been alone on his little hiatus. At first I was just angry with Mulder, but now I’m also angry with myself. I’ve behaved foolishly and I’m not sure how to retreat. I have fallen in love with Mulder and I don’t know how to stop.

When I last posted, I was about to get back on the road to drive home. I got home and fell apart. I haven't been able to even read fanfic in the last 5 months. I have a lot of catching up to do...

I thought it would be appropriate to post a couple of Mulder/Scully on-the-road fics. Their road trips are far more exciting than mine.  This one comes after the angst of One Son, and Scully is questioning her future with Mulder. Don't worry, there's a happy ending...

Nuptiae Sub Rosa by Xfmaweezy & Sisterspooky1013

68,000 Words

Nuptiae Sub Rosa cover

A series of canon-compliant missing scenes showing that the dynamic of Mulder and Scully’s relationship may have changed much earlier than previously thought.

Xfmaweezy has been a wonderful friend to me while I've been feeling less than awesome, and she sent me this fic to read when I was struggling with reading anything. I'm so glad she did. It certainly cleared me of the lingering angst I was feeling with the heaviness of the Goshen Universe fics. It's humourous, it's serious, and it's hot as hell as it follows the ups and downs of the Mulder-Scully dynamic from Seasons 4 to 7. I love it so much. Thank you K.

Goshen by Bonetree

27,000 Words

A harrowing night in the Virginia mountains makes Mulder and Scully relive parts of their pasts and rethink their future.

Note: The story itself is PG13 (language, violence); the Epilogue is NC17 (younger folks can skip the epilogue and still get the story.)

But wait, there's more! After you've read the story, come back and read some bonus smut, a wonderful parody written by Bonetree as a follow up to Goshen: Goshen Interlude: Nothing Gold Can Stay.

After that you can continue with the other stories in the Goshen universe. They're linked at AO3 but I'll be adding them here as well.

Hi guys. Sorry I've been MIA for so long. I realise it's been a month (there was an extra one I pre-loaded that appeared later) but I've been fighting the nasty brain demons after being made to take a long washout period from old meds before starting new ones. I'm feeling so much better now and want to get back into posting, but I'm not quite there yet.  What I've decided to do to reduce the brain strain is post only links to stories that are on AO3 or ff.net for a little while.  Most of these will be ones I already have covers for.

First up is one I've wanted to post for a long time but couldn't decide whether to post the full series t0gether here as well as link to AO3. My lack of brain helped make that decision for me. I didn't have a cover for Goshen, which surprised me, because I have covers for the rest of the Goshen universe. There likely was one at some stage, and if I come across it I'll upload it.

Without further ado, this is a lovely, angsty stuckfic, with a revisit from Emily. It's a prelude to the 4 novel length stories that follow in the Goshen Universe. You can access them all from the AO3 link, but there's a short, Goshen

*I've just noticed that there are line returns on the version on AO3. I've added a webpage version here for those who use a screen reader and get driven nuts by line breaks.*

Whatever it Takes by DanaK35

Whatever it Takes cover

A year after Emily's "death", Scully gets a strange phone call … and must make a decision

Scully decides that she's prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure she doesn't miss her last chance. I love a strong Scully who decides she's not going to tolerate Mulder's crap and just goes for what she wants. She should know that Mulder's lost without her.

This one actually has some plot to it, and covers a few holidays as Scully determines her own future.

Soap and Eggs by EPurSeMouve

47,000 Words

Soap & Eggs cover

Soap And Eggs: A possible future. A might-have-been. A what-if. Or a "There but for the grace of God...."

Soap and Eggs II: An Ivory-White Christmas: A solitary Christmas in San Francisco, California.

Soap and Eggs III: A Grade-AA Valentine's Day: The stage is set for the final conclusion.

Soap and Eggs IV: Suds And Shells: Sometimes, it's hard to decide when to settle for life's leftovers.

*BONUS* Soap and Eggs Happy Ending : This doesn't officially exist. According to EPur "this isn't a part of the Soap and Eggs series. It's just me fooling around, describing on paper what kind of ending the sap in me always wanted." It was exclusive to EPur's website. If you want to remain true to the spirit of the series you can skip it, but if you're human you'll definitely want to read this.

!CW: character death (Not M or S).

If you're after a happy holiday story, look elsewhere!!!

EPurSeMouve stabs you in the heart with this one. Then twists the knife. Then rips it right out of your body and stomps on it. There is a band-aid for you at the end though.

This season 4 end-of-the-X-Files imagining isn't really a whole lot worse than what Chris Carter did to them after "The Truth". It always bothered me when I thought of how difficult their lives would be on the run. The only difference then was that at least they had each other. I'm going to stop now before I cry again. Just make sure you're in a safe place before reading this.

This was one I'd originally intended to release at Halloween, but I was out gallivanting around the country instead. Never mind, it's a late Halloween, almost-Christmas and early Valentine's story.

Heat by Spooky’s Girl

She had the power tonight.

I noticed as I added the fics for the rest of the week that there hasn't been as much smut as usual posted lately.  I decided to post this extra smut to make up for this.

This PWP from Spooky's Girl has a slight angsty jealousy bouquet. There's nothing about the /other tags to worry about.

I assure you that there's some good stuff on the horizon. 🙂

Scattered Leaves : Fall by Abracadabra

190,000 Words

Scattered Leaves cover
Part of the Seasons series:

Scattered Leaves: This is the third in the Seasons Series; the sequel to Shadows on the Sun. Mulder goes undercover, Scully goes to a conference. Some unanswered questions...

Going Up, Going Down: A smut companion to Scattered Leaves. Yes, I can picture Mulder in almost any setting. And yes, I appreciate his 'backside'.
You do not need to have read the series to read this one.

Outstanding in her Field: A PWP sequel to Going Up/Going Down. Mulder teaches Scully a new game. Not necessary to have read GU/GD, but it helps...

There's still trouble in paradise as Mulder and Scully are sent to Vermont for different reasons.  Mulder is the worst deep undercover agent that the bureau has ever seen as his focus keeps shifting from the job he's there to do. 😀

You might be able to gather from the companion fics included that they do sort out their differences.  This is the final volume of the Seasons Series.

Shadows on the Sun : Summer by Abracadabra

Shadows on the Sun cover
Part of the Seasons series:

Mulder and Scully are called to Boston by Agents Mitchell Court and Joani Spark to help investigate a case.  An old adversary is involved.

CW! Sexual assault

Mulder and Scully haven't been together long before a regular problem raises its particularly ugly head.  My favourite type of fic. 😀

This is Volume 2 or the 3 volume Seasons series, but it's not essential to read "Snowed Inn" first.

Topaz by Bardsmaid

110,000 Words

Topaz: Hours after the end of Sanctuary, Alex Krycek has fled west from Owensburg, weak and re-injured. Mulder and Scully are left
wondering which group is behind the disturbing symptoms that developed in Tracy, but critical evidence has been stolen. Will they
return to their old positions at the FBI, or will circumstances turn them in a different direction? That strange man Mulder noticed in the hospital hallway--surveillance video will reveal a second man no one can identify, both of them dressed identically, right down to the tie. And what will become of Krycek's promise to help Mulder find out once and for all what happened to his sister?

Volume 3 of the Sanctuary series contains Part 4, 'Topaz'.  You'll need to read the other parts first.

Bardsmaid passed away before this story could be completed. I've republished Topaz along with the first 3 parts of the series despite the lack of resolution as I really enjoyed reading where the story was heading. If you like your stories to have an ending, don't proceed.

Alternatively, you could consider this an epilogue to Sanctuary.  If you don't want to read the whole thing only to be left hanging, I've marked a place in Chapter 3 on the PDF/EPUB versions that you can read to to give you the answer to some questions without opening too many new cans of worms. I actually got to the end of what's available and thought I'd missed copying some of it because I was so engrossed that  I thought I'd only read 40,000 or so words rather than the 100,000 words  I'd consumed.

Additionally, the prologue of Topaz is a vignette called "Half-Life" that was written separately to Topaz and can be read on its own.

Vale Bardsmaid.

Sanctuary by Bardsmaid

400,000 Words

Sanctuary cover

Sanctuary:  On the run from the Smoking Man, Mulder and Scully go undercover in Kentucky, hoping the Beeson-Lymon case will lead them to information that will finally bring CSM down.  Meanwhile, Alex Krycek slowly recovers from a gunshot wound with the help of an unlikely caregiver from whom he can hide nothing.  CSM hatches a nefarious plot to draw Mulder and Scully out into the open.  Help, and resolution, come from unlikely quarters.

This second volume contains part 3 of the Sanctuary series. You absolutely have to read them all in order so grab the first two parts here.

Bardsmaid managed to somewhat redeem Krycek in this one, bestowing some humanity on him without it feeling at all forced.  By the time I got to this one I was all in and didn't even notice how long it was.

This includes the Sanctuary postscripts. As the sequel to Sanctuary was never completed, you may choose to end your journey here, but I strongly recommend that you keep going with Topaz.

BTW, I may have gotten confused with which tags belong on which volumes. I just recently re-read them all in one huge binge and can't remember what happened when...

Paradise Lost + Walking Through Fire by Bardsmaid

89,000 Words

PL WTF cover
Part of the Sanctuary series:

Paradise Lost: Mulder is dismissed from the Bureau on trumped-up charges of having had contact with the X-files. Stripped of his driving motivation as well as his job, he's forced to look critically at his life. Scully, reassigned to a teaching position at Quantico, must balance her new responsibilities with her concern about her former partner's well-being. And Alex Krycek insinuates himself into Mulder's life for reasons that are not immediately apparent.

Walking Through Fire: Determined to gain reinstatement at the Bureau, Mulder searches for a way to bring Cancer Man down while also confronting the grim reality of unemployment, and Scully's responsibilities increase as she juggles her new assignment with her continued support of her ex-partner's quest. But Skinner requests her forensic expertise in an ongoing investigation, saddling her with an additional burden that may prove more than she can bear. A ghost from Teena Mulder's past prompts her to finally open up to her son, though the information she offers has the potential to crush him. And Alex Krycek inadvertently provides the evidence Mulder needs to foil the Smoking Man.

The Sanctuary Trilogy+ is a masterpiece of fanfic by Bardsmaid. She appeared to have a real sense of comfort with the characters and not only  did she make existing characters her own, she created rich, real characters that could have changed the trajectory of the show post Season 7 if only CC & co had thought of them.  I can't help but wonder what S8 would have been like had they introduced a character like Agent Wilkins who was eager to help rather than antagonise.

This series diverges from canon at the beginning of Season 6, so all the usual favourites are involved in a complex mytharc plot.  Take some time off and really immerse yourself in this one.

There are 4 parts to this series, which I've spit into three volumes. Whilst the Sanctuary Trilogy itself was completed, Topaz, the sequel Bardsmaid was writing at the time of her passing was not, but is included here as an optional extra.

Bardsmaid's website is still available at bardsmaid.org, and her original images can be found there and in the attached epub/pdf versions. New covers are included here due to the tiny size of the original pics.

PS  Leland is a much better name for CSM. He's so not a 'Carl'.

The stars are projectors.

Nevdull doesn't give too much away with her summary, so I went into this one not knowing what to expect, which was good, because had I noticed it was to do with Season 7 Mytharc I may not have read it at all... I'm often very prejudicial in that way.

This is a truly unique and fascinating treatment of the mytharc we were lumped with in S7.  Krycek and Marita get a look in (plus some backstory), joining Mulder and Scully in a determination to get to the bottom of the information found on the alien ship and save humanity. Instead of Mulder claiming to have found the key to everything and Scully rolling her eyes, this Mulder and Scully just do what needs to be done.

Barely Balancing cover

No summary provided, so here's my TV Guide version:

The Lone Gunmen help sort out the whole Diana issue and help play cupid, but just as things are finally working out, Scully is plagued by ever-worsening nightmares.

Frohike wanted to give Byers a chance to cut loose, or as she put it "get that steel rod removed from his ass", and this was the result. Byers plays a big part in this X-File, in which Scully is tortured once again.

This is set after the events of One Son, and it's quite satisfying that Scully's concerns are validated. I also confess to a few little chuckles over place names in this story.

I'd been looking for this fic for a while until finally stumbling across a Palm Pilot edition.  I've managed to convert it to usable formats for us all to enjoy, so please enjoy this fabulous "Mulder and Scully fall apart without each other thanks to meddling Fowley" fic. Whilst our agents sometimes let their heads overrule their hearts, and their silent communication can fail, they know where they belong.

The "X-Libris" download option will take you to the story posted in another section of the site. It's something I'm trialing at the moment. And you get a .docx file instead of a .txt file because I got tired of converting it to different formats. 🙂

The Way I Saw It: Scully has had an awful day, Mulder is drunk, and Diana Fowley thinks its all Scully's fault. Who is right? Who is wrong? And what the heck happened?

The Dish and the Spoon: Rain, wind, Mulder, Scully, Diana and... a meteor shower? What the heck is going on? Who will emerge victorious in a game of love and war? It all happened just the way they saw it.

JaimeLyn tells this story from Diana, Scully & Mulder's points of view alternatively, and it's a thing of beauty, particularly the Fowley-Scully hate.

Strange that although it had been Scully who’d done all the fighting to get the X-Files reopened, it was Mulder who received the late message on his machine.... xfiles to reopen with Mulder, Scully, Fowley & Spender.

While Scully's jealousy is getting the better of her, Mulder's a bit of an asshole, siding with the Fowl One in this, so Scully has to ditch him in order to save Gibson. I would have liked worse things to have happened to Fowley, but QofMush isn't as cruel as me, obviously

Book One: Mulder and Scully have to fight for their positions on the X-Files.

Book Two:  Part One - Thanksgiving + Part Two  - Christmas (to Chapter 14 - last updated Dec 12, 2004)

Although this edition has an additional part to those available at Gossamer, it comes incomplete. While it didn't make it to its final destination, it does have a satisfactory ending.

Book One of this series is a doozy. Full of delicious angst and heartbreak after Mulder and Scully are caught in a compromising position.

It does lose momentum in Book Two, probably because it never made it to where it was going; Book Two and the planned Book Three were never completed. You may want to stick with Book One only, but it's worth adding the opening of Book Two as an epilogue, both for the humour and to know where things ended up after the preceding angstfest. 😉

Have you ever wanted to be immunised against the anguish of character death? Well this is the series for you.

Nascent's evil side takes over and she goes on a rampage of character death, in a multitude of imaginative ways.  Both beloved and detested characters suffer at the hands of Dark Nascent, and I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times.

This starts with a jealous Mulder immediately following "Never Again". I got a little confused timeline-wise after that as it seemed to go to Season 6 before heading back to season 4 and 5. Just to with it and enjoy the angsty smut. 🙂

Arcadiafics: Dividends, Seven Year Itch & CC&Rs by Suzanne Schramm

19,000 Words

Arcadia Fics cover

Dividends: A late night conversation as Scully takes stock on the last six years.

Seven Year Itch: Sequel to "Dividends." Another late night conversation as Mulder and Scully sort through their feelings.

Covenants, Contracts & Restrictions: Missing scene from Arcadia. Night 1: they spoon like baby kittens (shyeah!). Night 2: Scully tosses Mulder out of the bedroom. Night 3: Anyone’s guess. All I know is Mulder was looking pretty chipper the next morning. And Scully was acting downright wifely when she asked him to give up playing in the mud on Night 4.

How's this for a special edition? Double the Arcadia smut!!!

I was making a cover for the Dividends universe when I remembered I had to make another for CC&Rs and didn't know how far my creativity would extend... this is the result.

Dividends is set earlier in Season 6, but its follow-up, Seven Year Itch is set during Arcadia.

Covenants, Contracts & Restrictions is a completely separate story, giving you double the happy ending. 🙂

Overnight Sensation by Syntax6

88,000 Words

Overnight Sensation cover

Set post Two Fathers/One Son, Mulder and Scully struggle to get back on the same page as a serial killer stalks couples in the Boston area.

It was fortuitous that permission to share some of Syntax6's stories came just in time to share this Valentine's Day fic.  Don't expect any sappy romance though, it's set immediately after One Son before Mulder and Scully start back on the X-Files.  Scully needs some alone time before the X-Files reopen and accepts a case in Boston. Naturally her alone time doesn't last long.

There aren't a lot of hearts and flowers in this one.  Pissy Scully is on point with her snarky thoughts about Mulder and Fowley. Mulder is on his toes, and Fowley is peak Fowley.  Of course, Mulder ends up on Scully and vice versa by the end.

I'll take this opportunity to surreptitiously plug Syn's original novels again.  Find out more at her web site.

Necessary Evils by Hannah Mason

82,000 Words

Necessary Evils cover
Part of the Evils Universe series:

Just why the #@!& is Mulder still alive, anyway? Would Scully really do it all again? I wonder.

This could be considered a continuation of the world created in "Lesser Evils", but the two stories are not explicitly linked.  If you're going to read both, it's best to read them in order.

Hannah/Syn has Scully hit Mulder where it hurts the most in this one.  Multiple hearts are ripped out with almost surgical precision, but she also knows how to make us whole again. 🙂

Lesser Evils by Hannah Mason

42,000 Words

Lesser Evils cover
Part of the Evils Universe series:

Mulder thought that no one could ever want Scully as much as he did. He was dead wrong.

The two stories in this universe were written by Syntax6 under her earlier alias.  As excited as I am to post these fics, it doesn't come close to the excitement I'm feeling at being given permission to post a number of Syntax6's stories.  Stay tuned.

If, like me, you can't get enough of Syntax6's writing, she's just released her 4th novel.  I don't want to give details here, where her "legit" writing can be associated with her fanfic, but if you love the way she manages to pull twists out of nowhere, you'll want to follow this link to her webpage for more information.

After Midnight by Jenna Tooms & KellyC

72,000 Words

After Midnight cover

Mulder and Scully move through the events of season six, carefully changing from friends to lovers.

Once upon a time there was a vignette. And when the vignette was posted, there were pleas for a sequel. However, the author had no ideas for a sequel, so she let a friend write it. The sequel then inspired the original author, so she wrote more. And so it went, back and forth, until the original vignette became . . .   After Midnight.

Mulder is repentant after Two Fathers/One Son.  Scully forgives him, a little at a time.  They have to rebuild trust.  This series takes you through season six from One Son onwards.

Jenna's made an illustration for each story in the series. There are too many to attach here, but they're included in the ePub & PDF versions.

Compass by Nascent

52,000 Words

Compass Cover

How Scully and Mulder got their groove back after One Son.

I don't know how I managed to upload the wrong version of the text file, but it's fixed now. 🙂

This is a beautifully crafted case file set after One Son, with all the angsty fallout of agents who'd been bed-mates in this fic since season 4 but never actually confessed their deep abiding love in that time. Diana is still doing her thing and Mulder still trusts her, leading to an annoyed Scully having to set him straight.

"So this was talking. They’d never tried it before. He didn’t think he liked it much."

The x-file itself is one that I couldn't for the life of me work out how they were going to get out of it, but Nascent got us all through it.

Intrigues in the Dark cover

A string of suicides leads Mulder and Scully to a sleepy, coastal town in Oregon for the second time—on their return to The X File—as tensions run high and nothing is as it seems.

As evidence that 2020 wasn't all bad, I present this contemporary classic casefic written by FragileVixen for the recent case file fic exchange.  A bonus fic (link only) to help get you through the weekend.

FragileVixen has also started making collages to post with some of her stories on AO3. This is the image she put together for this one:

12 Tales of Christmas by Anne Haynes

12 Tales of Xmas cover

Have yourself a merry little Christmas...

A post-ep for "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas" that continues on through the start of Season 6.

Note: This series isn't related to the other "12" series by Anne Haynes.

Sorry I've been derelict in my uploading duties again, but unfortunately it's par for the course when battling chronic illness. I did really want to get some Christmas fics up so I'm pushing myself to get some holiday joy to you, and hoping that it gets me back on track.   I apologise to those lovely people who've contacted me and I haven't gotten back to you. I'll get there.

This story starts as a relationship story, post HTGSC, but morphs into so much more as Mulder and Scully navigate their way through early Season 6.

Wishing you all the best for the holiday season.

Anniversary & Birthday by JessM

Anniversary & Birthday cover

Two very loosely-connected companion fics:

Anniversary: Scully reaches a turning point in her relationship with Mulder.

Birthday: On the day of his 38th birthday, Mulder decides to reveal the truth to Scully and see where it gets him… (where do you think?)

This final Mulder's Birthday story comes with a bonus anniversary fic. Twice the fun!

Surprising Who You Meet in Hell by HateBeingAbductedByAliens

Suprising Who You Meet In Hell cover

After a heated argument, Mulder and Scully find themselves in a living hell, not literally, thankfully. This story is about self-indulgence, drowning sorrows and somehow, reaching salvation after all. Set during "One Son".

"One Son" fic is my all time favourite.  On top of the Fowley angst I love the intensity of the seething feelings of betrayal after Mulder's "making it personal" comment.   This fic takes advantage of that and it's nothing if not personal.

I've now added a PDF version in case FFnet goes belly-up. There have been rumours for a while so best to be sure 🙂

Idylls by Bugs

Book Cover: Idylls by Bugs

It all seems to be over, but the Smoking Man has information that will change how Scully sees herself.

*epub version should be working*

I'm not a huge fan of the chaos of post-col fics, but This one's an unusual one in that the aliens came and went and things are back to 'normal'. It's difficult to categorize. I've added a few tags but left off a few as well to keep the intrigue.

Beast Trilogy, The by Beduini

Parabiosis by Penumbra

59,000 Words

Book Cover: Parabiosis by Penumbra

Science and Mysticism conjoin. A detailed look at season 7. (Rated R)

This story is supplemented by an NC-17 'addendum to casefile' 'Upsidaisium', which is included.  Upsidaisium is set around Gethsemane which is a bit confusing but smut is smut.

Scully dared herself to give in to this life, to call this enough - dire middle-of-the-nights with this unbelievable parabiosis arcing between them, and the daytime eternities of pretending there was nothing new.

And now when he wanted to lie with her, kissing and talking, she thought of how they would act tomorrow, of the subsequent days until they could be like this again, and she felt a certain level of bitterness at the sham of her life, bitterness he dispelled with his hands and mouth, and with his unspoken assurance that the only certain thing we have is now.

Penumbra really has a way with words. I was really surprised that I had to create a dustjacket for this one because it's such a legendary fic.  There must be one somewhere that I don't know about. I did, however, find this fanart for it by skuuri at deviantart/ankathehuman at tumblr:

Recycled Virgins by Kel

24,000 Words

Book Cover: Recycled Virgins by Kel

The world of MSR fanfic has many wonderful stories about the "first time." Here's one about the changes and adjustments that follow. Mulder and Scully suffer through their own insecurities as they take on the Consortium. Some jealousy for Mulder.

Kel isn't one of those author's names that you hear spoken of reverently in the XF fanfic world, but by the gods she can write some intricate plots. Not only that, but this one is interlaced with the kind of humour that almost borders on the ridiculous at times, and just makes you feel good.

There are bonus cameos from Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and Newt Gingrich to add to the fun.

Impulse by Suzanne Schramm

16,000 Words

Book Cover: Impulse by Suzanne Schramm

Mulder and Scully investigate some strange doings in a little town where people seem to have no control over their actions.

! If you 're particularly sensitive you might briefly contemplate whether this is dubcon. If it actually hits the dubcon scale, it's nowhere near as dubcon as the actual show.

I love the opening line of this one. "Scully, have you ever wanted to kill me?". Mulder's obviously concerned about being sent to investigate the death of an agent previously sent to investigate a crime in this town at the hands of his partner...

Walking Away V: Repress, Restrain, Deny: "I won't follow you anymore, Scully. I can't. Not in this." - Mulder

Book Cover: Not Without You & Chained to You by Spooky's Girl

Not Without You: Mulder and Scully vs the wild west.

Chained to You: 18 months after Scully leaves the bureau, fate intervenes, and Fowley tries to...

It's bothered me that I don't have many smutless fics here, so much so that I'm seriously considering combining G and PG rating tags to obfuscate that fact a little.  I've guesstimated these fics as PG, as they're not rated, nor were they summarised.  They came from the dark, cobweb-infested basement of the wayback machine as I'm pretty sure these are from Denise's pre-ATXC writings which never made it to Gossamer.   Spooky's Girl is one of my regular dustjacket providers, but unfortunately she hadn't done any for these two stories  and all my efforts were a little underwhelming.  There are days when nothing seems to work... I should post a couple of the rejects for a laugh... it was that bad.

Whole Truth (The) by Admiralty

95,000 Words

Whole Truth cover

Fox Mulder and Diana Fowley, a partnership of like minds. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, a partnership of perfect opposites. A journey beginning pre-XF and throughout the series exploring these relationships. (Includes Mulder, Diana, and Scully POVs)

Chaps 1-5: pre XF- Pilot
Chap 6: S2-S5
Chap 7: The End
Chap 8-9: Fight the Future/ The Beginning
Chap 10: Drive/ Triangle
Chap 11-12: Two Fathers/ One Son
Chap 13: Arcadia-Field Trip
Chap 14-17: Biogenesis arc

Although this fic examines the Mulder/Fowley relationship, it is MSR. It gives a lot of insight into the behaviour we see on screen, and adds so much depth to all of these characters.  Admiralty  even made Diana almost actually likeable. Or appreciable anyway.  It gives a whole new understanding of the motivations and events of seasons 5 to 7.

The Nature of the Beast: Mulder and Scully continue to work on their partnership in the aftermath of Two Fathers/One Son

ML takes us for an emotional ride from Two Fathers/One Son to Alpha, lovingly exploring the ups and downs of their relationship intertwined with the added emotional toll that came with each case.

Yet again, I found images post-posting. 🙂  These ones were the work of Circe Invidiosa (The Interval image is missing).

Aftermath by Zuffy

This series began with the devastating effects One Son had on Mulder and Scully's partnership, and continued through their desperate attempt to understand the alien threat and the complex loyalties of Diana and other players. Parts 3 and 4 take place after Biogenesis as Scully and Mulder try to come to terms with his mysterious illness. There's a shippy end for believers...

I've been having a bit of a post One Son indulgence lately so there may be some more juicy One Son fics coming...

In this one Zuffy weaves an elaborate mytharc story around the canon from Two Fathers/One Son to Amor Fati, and challenges our beloved heroes to save each other, not knowing who they can trust.

Human Credentials by Scarlet Baldy

73,000 Words

Book Cover: Human Credentials by Scarlet Baldy

As both agents decide to forget what almost happened in that hallway, Scully tries to deal with a clinical depression which was just waiting to happen. The fact that Mulder resumed his relationship with Fowley is not helping. A mysterious letter sends him on another wild goose chase in a country far far away. Scully and Fowley ‘try’ to temper their mutual animosity to find him. The agents will find out that travelling can be a mind altering experience, in the true sense of the word.

This story begins right after the movie and gradually evolves into its own alternate universe. A.D Kersh never existed, the Consortium didn’t turn to ashes, and Fowley never worked - or slept - with CSM.

Book II - Lendemains
This is the morning after Human Credentials' last book ended. Mulder, Scully and her clone Faye are on the run. The world is being ravaged by a mysterious and lethal virus. And the bees are back.  NOTE: THIS STORY IS INCOMPLETE BUT INCLUDED HERE FOR THE CURIOUS.  There are only 5 chapters so it barely begins, unfortunately. You might be able to consider it an epilogue. 🙂

I only have one cover for this one, but I have the thumbnails for the rest.  The HC1 front and back cover are by Pinky and the HC2 front and back cover are by Invisigoth.

Book Cover: Full Circle to the Truth by Des

Special Agent Diana Fowley. Special Agent Dana Scully. What do they mean to Fox Mulder? Does he know? If not, how far do you have to go to find the truth? I thought it was time to find out.

This was a last minute substitution so again tags have been added from my appalling doddery old woman's memory.

This is more Fowley-induced angst. I can't remember much of the specifics, but I do remember the smut. 😉   I'm pretty sure Kersh's office is involved at some point.

Apologies to these awesome authors that it's the smut that stays with me rather than the plot they put all that time and effort into; it's not you it's me. I'm going to post some non-smut soon just to prove that I do remember some stories for their storylines.

Flavours Series by Lilith

18,000 Words

Book Cover: Flavours Series by Lilith

Includes Bitter and Butter Pecan.

Bitter and Butter Pecan and the four-part Flavours follow up reflect Lilith's anger with Mulder after One Son. Scully receives a series of unusual birthday suprises.

Scully’s birthday present was only the beginning. An offer, an acceptance, and a refusal.

Oops, I'm late for Scully's birthday. Never mind, this treat doesn't have a use-by date.

This is another post One Son angst-o-rama, which I have a bit of a penchant for.  With the way Mulder behaved in One Son, I like to give Scully a pass to do whatever the fuck she wants to show Mulder what a stupid jerk he was. 🙂

Having Marita come to Scully is an ingenious plot point that you don't see very often, and it reinforces that Scully doesn't need Mulder. On the other hand, Mulder does need Scully, and the Lone Gunmen are there to help things along .

Angst-o-rama after the two agents are separated.  Dr Scully has to rescue Mulder from himself. Sadly there's no smut in this one, just intense angst and DAL. I didn't realise this was on ff.net until I went to publish it, so you get a bonus source. 🙂

Five Years and One Night by Shalimar

83,000 Words

Book Cover: Five Years and One Night by Shalimar

This story was originally a short post-Kitsunegari vignette. Then by request, Shalimar kept adding parts until it became this masterpiece.  One of the (multitude of) big plot holes of The X-Files that was never addressed by the 1013 writers was the fetus, created from Scully's egg, that Mulder discovered during the episode "Emily." Nor was the emotional fallout of that episode, and its startling revelations, on their partnership ever dealt with during the series.  "Five Years and One Night" addresses both of those issues, through the creation of an alternative universe that begins in the aftermath of "Kitsunegari", then takes off into its own complicated plot-line six months later, when Mulder arrives to disrupt the carefully reordered life that Scully has created for herself across the continent, away from him and the X-Files. An emotional tale, set in the exotic surroundings of Singapore.

I decided that I just had to post this story, but I'm happy to remove it on request.  I'm counting on the fact that it's 21 years old now and if Shalimar ever even thinks of the story any more, she'd be happy to know that it's still being enjoyed.  This is super-angsty Emily fallout fic, with loads of action including some wild and frenzied adult action. It's definitely a classic.

Part of the Crossing Lines series:

XGirl continues the Crossing Lines universe, taking Mulder and Scully from after Sixth Extinction through most of Season 7 with angst and love.  There are two R rated stories in this section - if you want to skip the smut, XGirl has PG rated versions on her website.

I: Truths Untold: In the dark hours before the early morning, the greatest truths out there may well be the unspoken ones. [PG]
II: Reconnection: A day at the beach and a story about a boy and his sandcastle spaceship. [PG]
III: Acceptance: Mulder and Scully take a significant personal step forward after a severe blow to his psyche. (Sein und Seit/Closure) [R]
IV: Just Breathe: Scully finds it difficult to deal with a side of Mulder she's never seen before in the aftermath of her adventure with CSM (En Ami). [PG]
V: Truths Revealed: Mulder and Scully realize that they have to deal with the memory of Diana if they want to move ahead. (all things) [PG]
VI: Waters Edge: The end of the road finally arrives for Mulder and Scully.[R]

XGirl's thoughts on the Post-Fight the Future X-Files (and even post Redux) very much mirror my own. It lost momentum. It tried to crush the Mulder-Scully dynamic, before going on to crush their spirits and change their beliefs.  Her website, xgirl's x-files x-perience, has an analysis of each episode, both on the original watch and a rewatch on the 20th anniversary. The Crossing Lines universe is her attempt to fix up some of the wrongs in Seasons 6 and 7.

xgirl's introduction to the Crossing Lines universe:

(For a Glimpse of "What Could Have Been")

For those of you unfamiliar with my work, all of my stories take place in what has become known as the "Crossing Lines" universe. It was the name of my first fanfic, an "unplanned" effort that ended up paving the path for my version of Mulder and Scully following their 1998 big screen adventure.

This first set of stories — beginning with Crossing Lines and ending with Two Steps Back — essentially take place during the TV series' sixth season.  It continues in the Healing Waters series.

CROSSING LINES: Released March 1999 — PG — Spoilers for Fight the Future — Our favorite long suffering couple deal with their continuing and changing relationship after the "events in the hallway" and finally acknowledge the existence of the "L" word. Along the way, they establish closure on some important issues of the past year, including Mulder's unresolved guilt over Scully's illness.

WHEN: Released September 1999 — PG-13 — Spoilers for Fight the Future — Scully and Mulder each reflect on an eye-opening night of discussion.

REPARATION: Released March 1999 — PG-13 — Spoilers for One Son — After being a big-time jerk to Scully, Mulder must make amends.

IN MY LIFE: Released April 1999 — PG — Spoilers for Arcadia — Mulder celebrates life with Scully on a very special day.

SOUL ON SOUL: Released July 1999 — PG — Spoilers for Field Trip — In the immortal words of Eddie Van Blundht, "What's stopping us?"

TWO STEPS BACK: Released August 1999 — PG-13 — Spoilers for Rain King — The strange wackiness of the Rain King encounter takes a serious turn when Mulder and Scully are faced with revisiting an old fear.

An ancient legend could be the key in saving humanity.

This is a post-col story with a rather intriguing beginning, which didn't take long to suck me in despite my usual post-col reluctance.  All your favourite characters get a part in this story.  I'll just warn you though, you might need to drink some strong coffee before you read it to keep up with the changing points of view.

This story was first posted in June 1999, 20 years ago now. I'm sure Ms31x129 doesn't need that reminder of how much time has passed, especially since she was kind enough to make me a new dustjacket.  The old dustjacket, which I only had a thumbnail for, is included below for nostalgic purposes.  Unfortunately many of the dustjackets I have from the old days are of a similar quality to this and just aren't usable 🙁

CONTENT WARNING: The following story is contrived, cliche-ridden, unrealistic, and unhygienic. And really, really smutty. ~Sap alert~ as well. Don't venture further unless you dig that kind of thing

Tootsie Pop
After returning from an assignment where Mulder inadvertantly caught sight of Scully in her underwear, a cliched evening of boring paperwork was made more interesting by Mulder seeing even more of Scully.

Tootsie Pop II: Marshmallows & Mints
Summary: Mulder and Scully go on another nice trip to the forest, or thereabouts, share conversation and confections, and engage in other fun adult activities.

Tootsie Pop II: JellyBellies and Twang
SUMMARY: Mulder and Scully travel to Austin, Texas, for a boring conference, but they manage to accomplish a whole busload of fun and naughty stuff CC never lets them do. A fluffy smut biscuit—with gravy.

EvieLouise lets them have a bit of fun.

I also discovered, when editing the table of contents in this fic, that the copy on annex-files.com is missing TPII chapter 5, which is definitely in this  version.

EvieLouise also mentioned some visual elements in her story.  These are in the ePub and PDF versions, but I'll put them here for .txt people.

This is a post-Biogenesis treatment of the mythology that seems to make sense. I have to admit that The Third Extinction/Amor Fati left me clueless, despite trying to read many post-ep analyses. There seemed to be so much in it that was unresolved or unexplained and I had to admit that I'd finally lost the plot of the mytharc.

This fic is the action/adventure story we should have had after Biogenesis.  Scully's trip to Africa has a purpose, and with what she learns she's able to rescue Mulder so they can both go after the truth.  It's the kind of writing that highlights just how wrong CC got it.

Beauty in the Breakdown by Neytirijade

8,800 words

Book Cover: Beauty in the Breakdown by Neytirijade

Mulder tries pushing Scully away to protect her. Scully doesn't give up that easily.

Neytirijade delights us with some MSR smut at the Gunmen's on New Years Eve.  There's a dash of Fowley angst, a pinch of idiotic Mulder, and a splash of self-medicating Scully all whipped up into a delicious coming together. 😉

Fidelity by Suzanne Schramm

A Scully ditch provides the opportunity to get some real answers in the quest for the truth.  Takes place right after Two Fathers/One Son.

I puffy heart this story so much.  It fulfills my post-One Son need for Mulder to have to suffer for his treatment of Scully in that episode (even if it's Scully who's feeling most of the pain). I can be rather masochistic in my enjoyment of the pain of the rift caused by Mulder's unwillingness to believe that Fowley would betray him.  I'm like a mutant who feeds off the intense Mulder-Scully feels, and this story has plenty of calories to burn off.

What Doesn’t Kill Us… by K Benton

83,000 words

Book Cover: What Doesn't Kill Us... by K Benton

Mulder and Scully struggle with issues of trust and betrayal during and after the events after Fight the Future.

It includes:

  • Betrayal From Within
  • Betrayals From Without
  • The Ultimate Betrayal
  • Even the Strong Will Crumble

Some extra angst for the Easter break.

This is a masterful series by Katherine Benton that sees some major changes in Mulder and Scully's personal and professional lives, and tugs on the heartstrings a little. This is the only fic I've read that deals, among other things, with Mulder's discovery that his body was used for sex without his consent during Dreamland.  It's a deliciously angsty fic, with far better use of the Mytharc than the show gave us (not that that's difficult).

A killer romanticizes each and every victim, leaving behind symbols of his "love"...but who is his intended target?

Sometimes I'm not sure whether to be impressed or concerned about the minds of authors who create horrific case files.  This is one of those stories 🙂 This is an epic fic which I haven't finished reading yet, so further tags may be added as I go. This is only the first story in the Into the Shadows series. The second story in this universe, Dance in the Dark, is currently underway.

Mulder and Scully are currently stuck under Kersh’s thumb and banned to the bullpen. It’s the week of Valentine’s Day and Scully also finds herself under romantic admiration from another.

Scully has a secret admirer, Fowley's messing with them, and there's an FBI Ball.  I'm a trope tragic.

There's an additional NSFW illustration I did for this one as well, I'll add a thumbnail here that you can click on to view if you're so inclined.

SO! I threw around the idea that Mulder likes to be spanked and was asked to write it!

This is just a little bit of gratuitous smut just because Mulder deserved a spanking after One Son.  Spooky66 and I collaborated on  this illustration for her post-One Son punishment fic.  We just had to make Dom!Scully spank Mulder with a name plate with her name on it.  I'm so easy to lead astray.

Making it Personal by Brandon D Ray

50,000 words

A series of episode-based vignettes, covering the second half of Season 6 and tracing the evolution of Mulder & Scully's relationship during that time.

Brandon follows the canon of Season 6, particularly One Son to Biogenesis, giving it his own twist.

There are two other dustjackets I've uncovered of stories included in this series.

This follows MSR beginning with "The End" in season five until life leads me in another direction. I will attempt to be canon compliant. The continuity in the storylines always bothered me and I always thought MSR deserved more than for it to become an x-file. This is a result of that nagging, my first attempt at fanfic, and a labor of love.

Like Master Captain, this is another of those absolutely epic fics that intertwines with canon.  These authors deserve extra credit for even attempting to make canon fit with canon.  It's now finished, and has become part IV of a series/universe.  You can reach the series from the AO3 link.

Human Affairs by Spider

62,000 words

Book Cover: Human Affairs by Spider
Part of the Human Affairs series:

Mulder’s Oxford flat mate arrives unexpectedly with a compound mystery; modern dinosaur and human remains are found near a Loch in northern England.

This story precedes Lost Time but it's not essential to read them in order.

18+ months later - I just found some original artwork for Spider's stories. I assume that this was created by Spider (Sonny) as it didn't state otherwise.

Lost Time by Spider

59,000 Words

Book Cover: Lost Time by Spider
Part of the Human Affairs series:

Diana continues to interfere after One Son. Our agents couldn't be any more distant when they're sent out of the country on a case.

Author's Notes: For almost 20 years I have lived in a country with a 5,000 year old culture, spending months in villages that count years since the last white person was seen. I was once an academic and thus am still more skeptic that believer. But I have also seen things... On my last trip to Ambrym volcano, I was stuck in a leaky hut with dead bodies from black magic littering the area. . My helicopter pilot companion thought I was screwy reading Xfiles when we lived the damned things. So a bottle of tequila and an annoyance about the M&S relationship post One Son in hand, I sat down with many battery changes, incorporated real life to fiction and ended up with this.

This is one of my favourite fics. I can't get enough Fowley-induced-angst, and she's at her evil worst in this one.  It does reference Human Affairs, a previous story by Spider, but  it's not necessary to read that story before this one. You might notice that I've tagged both stories as UST to RST, but there's a reason for that so just go with it. 🙂

Spider is clearly a gifted writer. She's actually an international bestselling author in her own right. The book referenced under the Lost Time image below is a science-fictional look at the results of climate change and the subsequent breakdown of society that's already quite frightening in 2020. The author has released it as a free download if you'd like to Ecosia it (alternative to Google with more trees and fewer data collectors).

18+ months later - I just found some original artwork for Spider's stories. I assume that this was created by Spider as it didn't state otherwise. I've also mocked up an image to direct you to the author's other work without search engines being able to associate that  work with this fanfic (I hope).

Fifth Column by Kemystre

Book Cover: Fifth Column by Kemystre

Fifth Column - (noun) - a secret or subversive group that seeks to undermine the efforts of others and promote its own end. --- Encarta World Dictionary

After the events of Sixth Extinction: Amor Fati, Mulder and Scully come to a crossroads in their relationship. The decision that Mulder makes will forever change their path together and quite possibly cost Scully her life.

This is an action-adventure fic, fuelled by Fowley-Folly, that is an absolute must for angst lovers.
