Reach + Sokol by Khyber

99,000 Words

Reach+Sokol cover

The Reach-Sokol series includes:

  • reach: Mulder and Scully are called off an X-file to an emergency assignment where they have some time alone together. Their reflections and thoughts about the events of the past year lead them both to make certain decisions…
  • day 17: The slipperier part of the seventeenth day of The Great Adventure. Two words—Tattoo Story. Erotica with character insight
  • day 19: Skinner discovers the agents’ relationship through a mysterious package.
  • eldorado bones: Old times and old friends.
  • sokol: A boy, a girl, a girl, a spaceship, and how things end.
  • day 51: Mulder and Scully have sex in the back of a Datsun 260Z… no, seriously, that’s it.
  • dancing skeleton day: Takes place at Christmas 1998, six months after “Reach” and “Sokol,”
  • terminus post quem: Whatever happened to…? Takes place in summer 2002, four years after “Reach” and “Sokol”.

Khyber takes our agents to some original and unique places. He also gives the partners a fun and adventurous sex life without overdoing it, with a few short smutfics interspersed with the main stories. The angst is also tempered with the kind of off-the-cuff snark that Mulder likes to make, and Scully sometimes adopts, and all the ingredients are there for a very entertaining series.

This one's a little large for a story page, but the other usual options are available.

I don't know who made the original covers, but they were originally posted in Khyber's part of alanna.net, but I hadn't seen them at khyberfic.net (this could just be a wayback machine archive issue.) I also spent an entire day making one myself before I realised there were pre-existing covers, so I'm going to include that one here too. 😀

Cost Analysis by Suzanne Schramm

850 Words

Cost Analysis cover

Mulder tells Scully to go home but she's still out in the field the next day. At what point did she tell him "No way, Jose. I stay"?

A missing part of the Requiem conversation in the bed.

By far the shortest story I've posted here, but I love the cover art. I'm not sure who created it, but I picked it up from Suzanne's section of alanna.net.

Cunegund’s Restoration by LiviaB

39,000 Words

Cunegund's Restoration cover

Despite the "hard news" angle taken by his correspondent Christiane Amanpour, CNN Washington Bureau Chief Frank Sesno finally got to the point and asked the question everybody had been silently asking themselves. "So, Agent Mulder, how did the spacecraft handle?"

A Post-Requiem Mulder-Returns-in-the-happiest-possible-way fic.

After the comparative angst of Livia's "Hem Ben Ik" I thought you might like a happy ending story.  This has to bring a smile to your face, and it's surprisingly light on sap as Livia ties up more loose endings than CC did in 11 Seasons and 2 movies. 🙂

Wildwash Series by OKayVal

7,000 Words

Wildwash cover
  1. Wildwash:  Leaving the past behind...
  2. Wild Wild Mulder: Sequel to "Wildwash." A conversation about cowboys gives Mulder an idea.
  3. Bareback: Sequel to "Wild Wild Mulder." Mulder makes amends, as only he can.
  4. Sleep Becomes Him: Follow-up to "Bareback." The morning after.

Mulder in chaps. Need I say more? This series begins the day after M&S did the wild thing for the first time, post-Closure.

Donnilee made dustjackets for all 4 stories:

Autopsy Fun Series by KirstenK

14,000 Words

Autopsy Fun cover
  1. Autopsy Fun: With a serial killer on the loose, Scully gets her chance to shine.
  2. Autopsy Fun Aftermath: Time to pay the piper...
  3. Autopsy Fun For Real: Finally Scully's getting some real autopsy fun.
  4. Autopsy Fun Continued: Continues where 'Autopsy Fun' left off

What's more fun than our agents engaging in fun times on the job, and particularly in completely inappropriate places? The joys of PWP 😀

The case file is perfunctory in this one. It just balances out the porn:plot ratio a little.

Puppets Trilogy by M Partous

54,000 Words

Puppets Trilogy cover

Mulder, driven by a need to understand what really happened to his father, decides to head back to the silo (Piper Maru/Apocrypha) to find Alex Krycek, who he's convinced he heard crying out when he and Scully were there.

!CW: consent is freely given, but under circumstances that could be considered duress.

As stated in the author's notes, her wish was to explore the M/S relationship in a way that it "gives them a kind of mystical strength, one that frightens the powers that be, one that could actually help them in their quest for the truth"

Whilst their first time is under less than perfect circumstances, it connects them in a special way that continues through the challenges they face in the rest of the stories. I do have a special love for an early connection between our agents, and this one feels right for them.

Keeping it in the Family I & II by Gemma Kingsley

39,000 Words

Book Cover: Keeping it in the Family I & II by Gemma Kingsley

Keeping It in the Family: Believe the Lie, but how deep does the deceit run? What will Mulder and Scully do after Gethsemane and how is Bill Scully involved in all this?

Keeping It in the Family II: Even when on vacation in Hawaii and trying to adjust to their new relationship, Mulder and Scully find themselves investigating another case.

More Bill Jr angst for Scully, post Gethsemane. Poor Scully's been through the wringer lately in the fics I've uploaded. I'll have to give her some mindless smut next to make up for it.

Once again, Scully's family have been used against her, and Gemma is particularly cruel with her storyline. 😉   Fortunately Mulder has returned to life to keep her safe, and satisfied...

Anamorphosis by Eponine119

106,000 Words

Anamorphosis cover

Assigned to find a horrifying serial murderer, Agent Scully discovers things about herself and her past that she never suspected.

Anamorphosis - Greek, to form anew. "the unfoldment of destinies follows ...upon the fall of outer circumstances...[a] substantial event was actually but a veil, a tissue of circumstance, conjured forth or the realization of a plot already formed." [Joseph Campbell, Creative Mythology]

!Numerous content warnings apply: child sexual abuse, recovered memories, rape (not described), suicidal ideations, dissociative disorder.

I know some of you like Scully!Torture, alongside Mulder!Caring of course, and Eponine119 certainly delivers in this one. She throws everything imaginable and worse at Scully in this story. Eponine does take some liberties with the Scully family, but they're entirely believable and usually make more sense than canon. If you like some pain with your MSR, this story will give you plenty of that.

Once upon a time there was a cover created by Mystic, but I can't get my hands on it. 🙁

Sex, Lies & Videotape by Amy McClure

3,000 Words

Sex Lies & Videotape cover

One word sums it all up: smut.

Amy sums it up nicely. There's a bit of friendly discussion over who won or lost a bet before the wager is collected.

Rumor & Bartering Contentment by Beduini

11,000 Words

Rumor + Bartering Contentment cover

Rumor: It started like many rumors do - in the ladies room on the sixth floor. This time it happened to be during the five-minute break between departmental speakers in the first quarterly review of the new Millennium.

Bartering Contentment: Turning fledgling physical intimacy into a relationship you can wear every day.

Two glorious stories from Beduini. Some Scully/Mulder violence is involved in our agents' first frenetic coming together.

Shred of Doubt by Jo-Ann L & Vickie Moseley

68,000 Words

Shred of Doubt cover

Scully gets called out to San Diego to help on a case and Mulder, though still recovering, tags along. Detective John Kresge wasn’t expecting the extra baggage.

This is an all-time favourite fic that I was reminded of recently.  I just love the characterisation embraced by these two long-standing XF fanfic authors: Mulder is constantly tortured but still tries to play at Alpha Male -being very possessive of Scully whilst feeling threatened and vulnerable, Scully is caught between Mulder and the rest of the civilised world, Kresge is an overbearing sexist pig, Maggie is the all-knowing peacemaker, and Bill Jr is at his belligerent, blustering best.  This all adds to the humour and makes this case file an extremely entertaining read.

Whole Catastrophe (The) by Diehard & Dryad

50,000 Words

The Whole Catastrophe cover
Part of the Absolute Beginners series:

This story takes place late in the year 2000. In the early Spring of the same year, Mulder and Scully finally got off the dime (after a false start, angst, guilt and a nightmare or two) and did the dirty deed. After a weekend of ‘solidifying their relationship’, they are pulled off the X-Files, but managed to find at least one way to console each other. Fast forward about six months—and you’ll be right we begin, dear reader. !cd (but not who you think)

The honeymoon is beginning to wind down for our agents after "Absolute Beginners" as they're finally sent back out on assignment and have to test out their new relationship 'in the wild' while dealing with a less-than-impressed local sheriff.

The web link will take you to invidiosa.com where you can find Diehard's fics, alongside some other fabulous authors, with many more images created by Invidiosa.

Camp Hero by McKab

118,000 Words

Camp Hero cover
Part of the Old Friends series:

A continuation of Requiem. Mulder is abducted and Scully receives some incredible news... naturally she reaches out to some friends for support.

Scully teams up with people she can trust, Susan and Michael who were introduced in "Old Friends". It's much nicer to think that Scully had people to support her during Mulder's absence.

Delta S by Nicole Mason

30,000 Words

Delta S NC-17 cover

“Your mom and Charlie can come, too.” He saw her actually start to listen to the suggestion. “The only thing for miles around is a lodge. They have a barbeque planned and some fireworks. There’s a lake and several miles of trails and —”

“Just an everyday, ordinary vacation?”

“Yep. Is that so hard to believe, Scully?”

She grinned and opened the door. “Mulder, with you around that’s just about as likely as aliens landing tomorrow.”

I've also included a PG-13 version of this one.

Mulder decides to take some of the Scully family members away for a vacation. Maggie decides that Mulder and Scully should vacation alone. She does end up joining them in Vegas though, and the real action begins there. While this is a crossover, Nicole doesn't want to give anything away too early, and it's not necessary to have knowledge (or memory) of the other situation.

Although they're in Vegas for a specific reason that's not noromo friendly, I've included a PG-13 version because that reason doesn't dampen their bantery relationship at all, and thought some people may enjoy the other action.  Click on the PG dustjacket below to read the smut-free version.

“I’ve always wanted to show you something magical.”

4th of July fluff. An improv challenge fic from Jenna Tooms.

Devil’s Advocate I & II by ImAStinker & FancyKatz

57/000 Words

Devil's Advocate (ImAStinker + FancyKatz) cover

Devil's Advocate: After Scully's recovery post-One Breath, Mulder & Scully pose as newlyweds on a Mystery-Solving cruise to catch a serial killer.

Sanctuary: Escaped prisoners come across Maggie Scully's house where Mulder is recuperating with the Scully family after their cruise adventure.

.

Not to be confused with another story of the same name, these stories feature a Season 2 Mulder and Scully, posing as a married couple on a cruise ship. I had a bit of a cruise ship binge lately, and there's still more to come...

The second fic features the whole Scully family in peril, as Scully takes Mulder there to recover after the first story.

DK’s Secret & Scully and the Gap Man by AliciaK

19,000 Words

Smartass Smut cover

Mulder takes Scully out on a long overdue date, and discovers what little secret she has hiding underneath her staid suits.

Smart-ass smut and general silliness.

Risqué (and other Magik) by Pywacket

12,000 Words

Pywacket Anthology cover

An anthology of Stories from Pywacket:

  1. Impure thoughts: A man walks into a bar.
  2. Exorcism in Blue: By all rights, this should have been an excruciating weekend. He had been reeling from his mother’s death, still coming to grips with Samantha’s fate, when he received a call from the realtor who usually handled the summer rental of the house.
  3. All the Time in the World: Most people live their lives as if they had all the time in the world. She and Mulder are not like most people.
  4. That Kind of Girl: “I can’t believe you want to watch this movie.”
  5. Risqué: For days, he’d watched a half naked Scully shiver with the cold.

I'd planned to upload Risqué for this week's hump day PWP, but when I checked to see who'd made the dustjacket I found that Pywacket only had 5 stories, so I threw them all in, including the two with covers made by ktblle. 🙂   Enjoy.

Book One: Mulder and Scully have to fight for their positions on the X-Files.

Book Two:  Part One - Thanksgiving + Part Two  - Christmas (to Chapter 14 - last updated Dec 12, 2004)

Although this edition has an additional part to those available at Gossamer, it comes incomplete. While it didn't make it to its final destination, it does have a satisfactory ending.

Book One of this series is a doozy. Full of delicious angst and heartbreak after Mulder and Scully are caught in a compromising position.

It does lose momentum in Book Two, probably because it never made it to where it was going; Book Two and the planned Book Three were never completed. You may want to stick with Book One only, but it's worth adding the opening of Book Two as an epilogue, both for the humour and to know where things ended up after the preceding angstfest. 😉

Osmosis by Michelle Kiefer

17,000 Words

Osmosis cover

Mulder and Scully investigate a rash of violent crimes and meet a man who cannot speak and the young woman who can hear him.

I rarely post the Virtual Seasons cases here because they're already all posted together at virtualseasonx.org but I thought it was time to give them another plug.

"I Made This Productions" features some of the best fanfic authors writing excellent X-Files episodes.  It splits from canon after "Je Souhaite" then generates its own internal canon. Many of the stories don't need to be read in order; it will usually say in the headers if there's reference to previous virtual episodes.

This is the first in the virtual series - Season 8 Episode One.

Surfacing by Leyla Harrison

2,000 Words

Surfacing cover

Summary withheld by author.  This story takes place in the Gethsemane/Redux arc.

This Hump Day PWP is brought to you by the letter C. I'm currently recovering from yesterday's regular cancer screening.

The good news is that I'm now over 7 years cancer free.  The bad news (for me) is that I didn't have Fox Mulder to personally help me through it in the way Scully did in this fic.  The worst news is that so many others haven't survived. Leyla's writing came from that perspective, and she will always live on in her stories, just as her name is now canon in The X-Files universe.

Please do regular checks and screenings and see your doctor if you have concerns. Listen to your body.

Mobius by ShipperX (LA Ward)

50,000 Words

Mobius cover

While investigating the disappearance of a physicist, Scully finds someone she didn’t expect—Mulder.

This is a post-Requiem fic, with Scully working alone after Mulder's disappearance.   It's a very clever story about our agents and their fight to reunite.

Some very early visitors to this page may have noticed the change of cover - Once again, I stumbled across the original cover right after uploading the story here so I've replaced it in the files.  I assume this cover was made by the author but please let me know if you know otherwise. 🙂

Necessary Evils by Hannah Mason

82,000 Words

Necessary Evils cover
Part of the Evils Universe series:

Just why the #@!& is Mulder still alive, anyway? Would Scully really do it all again? I wonder.

This could be considered a continuation of the world created in "Lesser Evils", but the two stories are not explicitly linked.  If you're going to read both, it's best to read them in order.

Hannah/Syn has Scully hit Mulder where it hurts the most in this one.  Multiple hearts are ripped out with almost surgical precision, but she also knows how to make us whole again. 🙂

Necessary Roughness by agoodwoman

40,000 Words

Necessary Roughness cover

Mulder and Scully investigate some deaths during the Season 4 cancer arc, post Elegy and pre-Demons.

This is one of my favourite authors and stories. It hits the ground running, and keeps up the pace through the whole marathon.

Just as a sidenote, if you're undergoing chemotherapy, please seek your doctor's advice regarding the use of condoms before you and your partner do the wild thing in the morgue.  😉

Heat Wave: Mulder and Scully have a little fun with ice cream Set after little blue Pill

All I can say is that I wish I had a trusting working relationship like this with my handsome co-workers.  Scully goes above and beyond the call of duty at this FBI Ball.  Later on they relieve each other in the heat.

Because these were companion fics I left them out of both the Heat and the FBI Ball Shipper's Digests when they were compiled.  There's not much substance to them, so I'm releasing this 'book' as a bonus extra to celebrate ...ummm... Groundhog Day on Tuesday!  Best wishes for a Happy  Groundhog Day!

11,000 Words

Book Cover: Bed & Breakfast Series by DavidS, Tess, Jacquie Lava & ga

I’ve never been a B&B type of guy. Until now. Until Scully.

Mulder and Scully and a vacation at a B&B.

This fic is the ultimate in escapism; it's  the beauty of what an unencumbered M&S in love look like.   It started as a IWTB Mailing List punishment fic, handed out over grave misdemeanors such as posting a story twice to the list.  There are quite a few really juicy fics resulting from such punishment, and I'm hoping to collect as many as possible and combine in one volume here.

Meanwhile, this is the final story in my daily PWP distraction from US political drama postings, I hope. I'd like to think that as long as Mulder and Scully are doing the wild thing, all is right in the world.  Hopefully we're back to M, W & F posts. 🙂

12 Tales of Christmas by Anne Haynes

28,000 Words

12 Tales of Xmas cover

Have yourself a merry little Christmas...

A post-ep for "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas" that continues on through the start of Season 6.

Note: This series isn't related to the other "12" series by Anne Haynes.

Sorry I've been derelict in my uploading duties again, but unfortunately it's par for the course when battling chronic illness. I did really want to get some Christmas fics up so I'm pushing myself to get some holiday joy to you, and hoping that it gets me back on track.   I apologise to those lovely people who've contacted me and I haven't gotten back to you. I'll get there.

This story starts as a relationship story, post HTGSC, but morphs into so much more as Mulder and Scully navigate their way through early Season 6.

Wishing you all the best for the holiday season.

Covenant by Rhondda Lake

27,500 Words

Covenant cover

Covenant:  Mulder & Scully have to come to term with some changes.  Takes place before Leonard Betts.

Covenant II: Monsters: Sequel to "Covenant". While exploring all the levels of their 'new' partnership Scully takes on a case involving deaths strange enough no one can deny they are X-Files. Their only link, abused children. Their only lead. A child who can see Mulder. Not all Monsters live in closets.

Covenant III: Death and the Maiden: This is a bonus extra for those who can't get enough glowing blue Mulder, but it WAS NEVER COMPLETED. The extra 7,000 words are not included in the overall word count.

This is a classic fic by Rhondda, but I never knew it continued after the original story until it was mentioned recently on facebook.  I then discovered a part 3, but sadly it was shelved so Rhondda could finish other ongoing stories and never picked back up. Consequently you won't find it online.

I'm pretty sure JJ (cover artist) is Julie Jekel, but I'm too tired to delve into confirming that right now.

Year of Election by Paul W

21,000 Words

Year of Election cover

Mulder and Scully run for president... as Republicans. Sadly this was 1996 though. 😉

This is a special fic to distract our American readers from the trauma of the US Presidential election.  It's full of humourous situations as our heroes deal with the ups and downs of politics.  I played this in the car on my long drive to the far north of Australia and did manage to laugh out loud a few times.  It features the best episode of Larry King ever, which sadly never made it to air. 🙁

I've been temporarily distracted by having to offer my services at the Tolga Bat Hospital, but I'll try to update when I can.

The lovely Observer of the Universe has volunteered to come in and fix up some tags and things, which I'm eternally thankful for. Hopefully we can get some new exciting things happening once bat season is dealt with...

Shipper’s Digest 05: Halloween

  4. The Grim Reaper by Amy McClure

  6. Mind Candy by B Dipherowa
  7. Urban Legends by SueBee
  8. And Dance by the Light of the Moon by RivkaT & MustangSally
  9. Master of Reality by Khyber

More treats than tricks. More pocus than hocus.  It's probably not surprising that Mr & Mrs Spooky enjoy halloween.  This is a bit of a mixed bag of stories.  The majority are first time fics.  Most are refreshingly light on plot, but there's a case file in there too. There's a lot of light-hearted fun to enjoy in this batch.

Living, loving……. and learning to let go. Set in the future, post episodic series finale, the X-Files are closed permanently due to unforeseen circumstances. Facing the dissolution of the partnership, Mulder and Scully go their separate ways trying to find a future, unable to see past their history. All the while, evil forces surround them in Washington that threaten the very existence of our nation’s most prized possession….democracy.

LM Control emphasizes the slow in slow burn in this one.  While there are tags for /others they try but there's no follow through IYKWIM.   There are case files in case files as M&S deal with the closure of the X-Files.

You He Did Not Fail cover

Five months after recovering from cancer, Scully abruptly left Washington — and Mulder — for a position at the LA field office. Mulder never understood why. Two years later, he'll have his chance to find out.

This is a fabulous brand new fic by a first time author. It combines a case file with some intense relationship angst and some likeable (and loathable) original characters.

There is some artwork at the end of the fic on AO3 but I won't post it here because it might be a bit spoilery. 🙂

Au Naturel & Aux Etoiles by abracadabra

Au Naturel: Mulder and Scully spend the day together. In a state forest.

Aux Etoiles: Just what is it that makes a moment magic?  This story takes place in the Au Naturel Universe, but they work as stand-alones.

This is the nice trip to the forest we've all been waiting for.

I'm currently ploughing through some depression/anxiety issues. I'm trying to keep the posts up but also attempting to take some pressure off by not feeling as though I have to post, if that makes sense. I'm hoping it will be business as usual but please bear with me if I don't get 3 weekly releases for the next couple of weeks.  It's nothing i haven't dealt with before, it's just a matter of harnessing limited energy and brainpower to use where it's needed. 🙂

That Night Series by EBE

  • Part III: They decide to open up emotionally
  • Part IV: Even more sex
  • Part V: Mulder ditches, Scully threatens to split
  • Part VI: Mulder ditches, Scully splits
  • Part VII: Reconciliation

Those summaries don't do this fic justice. This began as a bit of a first-time smut vignette but it then runs the gamut of emotions as it explores the establishment of their relationship with its ups and downs. It's one of those favourite fics that I forgot was a favourite until I re-read it.

It's weird how when re-reading fics I've found that some memorable ones haven't had the same impact on a second read, and others I couldn't quite remember have me pleasantly surprised.  That could be a lot to do with expectations, so I try not to let that affect what I post here.  🙂

  5. A housewarming party
  6. Wet and wild sex… some sugar… playing dress up… some more sex…
  7. Mulder and Scully enjoy a quiet evening in the park =)
  8. A climactic finish.

I'm pleased to say that I have all the webpages finished of the Orange Tabby Cat Recommends archive. There's just the chasing up of 250 missing story files left to do. I'm cheating a little by linking things that I've already uploaded here, so today's fic is one that I need for the OTC recs site.

All i can remember about this one is one certain scene, and that it's high in smut content. I'll have to have a skim through before I tag it properly. 🙂

... having now re-read it I'm surprised I only remembered one scene.  Hoo-boy!

A Splash in Texas: Mulder and Scully return to Texas for vacation fun, improving their relationship has never been so fun or so hard.

Fireworks:  After their argument in Texas, Scully comes to terms with what she wants and how to control her controlling side.

There's no shame in shameless smut.  There should be more of it in this messed up world we live in. 🙂

I'm still plugging away at Donnilee's "Other Author" sites, and I've done Michelle/xfimnotdone's now, twice, and decided that this 4th July fluff was appropriate to post here given the date.

Donnilee's Fireworks dustjacket is MIA, so I've done a replacement for the site.  There are a few yet to replace on Michelle/xfind's pages once I get the rest of the sites updated.

There are too many images to display for this one... go to the website link to see this production in its entirety.  These are just the two individual dustjackets I know of.

If you want to read more tales of Dr Scully working on Mulder's embarrassing situations, try the "Fixing the Family Jewels" Shipper's Digest.

Recycled Virgins by Kel

24,000 Words

Book Cover: Recycled Virgins by Kel

The world of MSR fanfic has many wonderful stories about the "first time." Here's one about the changes and adjustments that follow. Mulder and Scully suffer through their own insecurities as they take on the Consortium. Some jealousy for Mulder.

Kel isn't one of those author's names that you hear spoken of reverently in the XF fanfic world, but by the gods she can write some intricate plots. Not only that, but this one is interlaced with the kind of humour that almost borders on the ridiculous at times, and just makes you feel good.

There are bonus cameos from Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and Newt Gingrich to add to the fun.

Snapshot by Dawson E Rambo

125,000 Words

Book Cover: Snapshot by Dawson E Rambo

Dawson Rambo thought he was writing a vignette about Mulder & Scully's need for comfort from each other after a tough case. In fact he was writing a novel expanding on this and veering into a mytharc-based X-File epic which puts them up against all kinds of agencies with initialisms from all over the alphabet.

This one's a classic in early MSR. It's an action-adventure-romance written in early season 4 and while it was intended as a vignette it got a bit carried away.

Dawson was flying by the seat of his pants through most of this one, but I think without his ongoing author's notes it won't be so obvious.  I've moved the majority of the notes to the end of the fic, because there were nearly 10,000 words in disclaimers and notes alone, and I don't think you.ll need the detailed instructions on how to ask for missing chapters using his auto email response while reading a complete version.  I've still included them all for nostalgic purposes; you just have to go to the end of the fic to read through them.  For the full 1997 experience you can flick back and forth using the table of contents on the PDF or ePub versions.  You will learn that you could possibly have obtained an Adobe Acrobat copy back then, and you could get a zip version if you didn't have a Mac. 😉

You should at least have a glimpse at the end notes when you've finished reading though. There are  some interesting glimpses into Dawson's mind as he's writing. It's interesting to see what's happening in his head as he's writing, and the author answers a few long-standing curiosities about himself at one stage.  😀

Walking Away Series by ScamBeliever

25,000 words

Book Cover: Walking Away Series by ScamBeliever

Walking Away I: Big Mistake: Regretting One Night

Walking Away II: Stolen Shots: Bridging the gap has been painfully trying. Something else makes it even worse.

Walking Away III: Unexpected Visitor: Scully gives in at the wrong time.

Walking Away IV: Passing Torches: Things might never happen.

Walking Away V: Repress, Restrain, Deny: "I won't follow you anymore, Scully. I can't. Not in this." - Mulder

This one opens the morning after their first time together. Scully questions whether changing their relationship was a mistake, before assumptions, jealousy and insecurity take over.

Jitters Series by Donnilee

53,000 Words

Book Cover: Jitters Series by Donnilee

First Time Jitters: In the middle of a fight, Scully makes a stunning confession that prompts Mulder to act on his feelings.

Jitters 2: M/S embark on married life and Mulder sets out to teach Scully about all the things she's been missing.

Jitters 3: Scully's education continues. Wedding bells are in the air.

D'oh. I finally upgraded the site to https the other day, so I had to type these book URLs in from scratch... and I got the site URL wrong... 😀  I've now corrected this.  Sorry for the inconvenience.  I was actually expecting the whole site to break when I did that so I'm glad it was such a simple error!

You can thank Lacy, who requested this series.  I'm planning to add more of Donnilee's fics since she's kind enough to have made dustjackets for most of them.... and I assure you that's not the only reason! 😀

There are 3 stories in this series, so 3 dustjackets are included in the epub and PDF versions.

Up In Your Arms by Admiralty

29,000 Words

Book Cover: Up In Your Arms by Admiralty

Post-Closure, Mulder's search for his long-lost sister has finally come to an end. What does this mean for his relationship with Scully? And where do they go from here?

I was inspired by Echo & the Bunnymen's "Killing Moon" compilation album cover when creating a dustjacket for this Killing Moon inspired fic. I'm a big fan of Admiralty's writing, and this angsty season 7 fic with its clever use of canon got my proverbial juices flowing.

Scent of a Woman + Atoll by Terma99

34,000 words

Book Cover: Scent of a Woman + Atoll by Terma99

The complete Scent of a Woman series includes:

I: Scully left something behind when she spent the night
at Mulder's apartment.

II: Scully makes herself at home in Mulder's lair.

III:  Scully decides to put her plan to seduce
her partner into action.

IV: Our beloved agents bring those flights of fantasy to life.

V: (Atoll) Who wouldn't dream of spending two weeks on a
private island with a tanned, naked Mulder?

Is it hot in here?  There's not much plot to worry about and Terma99's writing should keep you warm on a winter's day.  Atoll is a story I've had to re-read a few times, just to make sure I got all the subtext. 😉

Weekend Series by MoJo

185,000 Words

Book Cover: Weekend Series by MoJo

There are 19 parts to this epic series, including Nocturne, co-written with Andie, which is a novel in its own right.

The Weekend Series includes:

14: PRAYER FOR THE DYING
15: AFTERBURN
16: PARTIAL ABANDON
17: RESIDUAL
18: LUCIDITY
19: AFFIANCE

It's a long weekend here for Labour Day, so I've added some bonus weekend reading. 😉

I apologise, but at 185,000 words, I haven't had a chance to re-read this one to confirm the tags, and I've guessed a few based on MoJo's general writing style. I hope I've guessed right....

Full Circle to the Truth by Des

50,000 words

Book Cover: Full Circle to the Truth by Des

Special Agent Diana Fowley. Special Agent Dana Scully. What do they mean to Fox Mulder? Does he know? If not, how far do you have to go to find the truth? I thought it was time to find out.

This was a last minute substitution so again tags have been added from my appalling doddery old woman's memory.

This is more Fowley-induced angst. I can't remember much of the specifics, but I do remember the smut. 😉   I'm pretty sure Kersh's office is involved at some point.

Apologies to these awesome authors that it's the smut that stays with me rather than the plot they put all that time and effort into; it's not you it's me. I'm going to post some non-smut soon just to prove that I do remember some stories for their storylines.

Miraculous Series by Mountainphile

62,000 words

Book Cover: Miraculous Series by Mountainphile

Miraculous Manifestation: Scully and Mulder, while in pursuit of a miracle, uncover the one that already exists between them...

Miraculous: Waiting in Motion: After leaving the miraculous hot spring, dark secrets emerge as Scully and Mulder explore an x-file on a remote mountaintop...

Miraculous: Signs of Life: A frantic ride into the night leads Scully to witness the greatest miracle of her life...

I haven't had a chance to re-read this one, and I lost some of the tags, so I hope the tags I guessed are correct.  I really only remember the scene in the hot spring. 😉

I've used the collages by Amy and Vered to make the cover. The top and bottom image are by Amy from Haven and the middle image is by VeredGF.

Basketball Therapy by Kel

48,000 Words

Book Cover: Basketball Therapy by Kel

Set shortly before Tithonus, this story explores life in the bullpen, where tedium and background checks are the order of the day. When Scully gets drawn into an investigation at a Maryland hospital, Mulder gets trapped in a deadly hostage situation.

Didn't Mulder seem relaxed and well-adjusted in Tithonus? How was that possible? Why wasn't he out looking for alien colonists, fighting the future? Read on; it will be revealed.

Kel zeroes in on that IDGAF Mulder of early season 6 and gives him some context.  She also puts that waterbed to good use. 😉

Ordinary Life Series, An by Paige Caldwell

33,000 Words

Book Cover: Ordinary Life Series, An by Paige Caldwell

Scully leaves the Bureau for what Mulder believes is an ordinary life. A year later, fate brings them back to together, but her “ordinary life” threatens to tear them apart.

True Lies - Sequel to “An Ordinary Life”. The ordinary life Scully left the Bureau for was a lie. Reunited with Mulder, they flee the danger created by her role as a CDC operative, only to discover the truth isn’t what they believe it to be.

To Bee or Not to Bee - A third installment to the series known as “An Ordinary Life”. Scully and Mulder continue to fight for mankind’s survival as the threat of an alien plague takes flight.

Drugstore Jesus by Agent Rain

24,000 Words

Book Cover: Drugstore Jesus by Agent Rain

Mulder recalls the events of the most painful encounter of his life from a few months ago on the way towards possible salvation from it.

This one tugs at the heartstrings. Mulder and Scully are a couple, until he pushes her away for her own good. Of course it doesn't do anyone any good.

Once again I've found an author's artwork long after posting... these images were all made by Agent Rain.

Caught in the Act series by Parrotfish

40,000 Words

Book Cover: Caught in the Act series by Parrotfish

I: A secret is revealed, threatening to permanently dissolve the partnership between Scully and Mulder.

II: No Win Situation: Their affair revealed, Mulder and Scully have been given new partners. His is bad, and hers is worse. Together, they must suffer through the power games of their professional lives while learning a very different lesson about power in their private lives.

III: Sub Rosa: Mulder and Scully go undercover to rescue a kidnapped child from a white supremacist militia group. Success could mean the salvation of the duo’s partnership — if it doesn’t destroy them first.

Note - the third story in this series is far heavier than the others and concerns an undercover situation that Mulder and Scully find abhorrent, causing much angst. Viewer discretion (and expectation adjustment) is advised.  Please read the author's notes for more information.

Some character exploration/erotica with angst, glorious angst.  Particularly in the last story.

You know you're dealing with very old text files when you have to mess with the editing of line breaks to force paragraphs to show.  Normally unnecessary carriage returns are removed when it converts to epub (and then pdf) but when it's been written on a particularly old computer all carriage returns are removed and you just get a huge block of text.  It's not pretty, and hopefully I've noticed others before posting.  Occasionally I know there's the odd orphan end of a sentence, but that really can't be helped because manually proofreading is above my paygrade! 😀

Shipper’s Digest 03: Heatstroke

24,000 Words

It was winter here the other day, so I'm warming up with some heat-related fics.  This is a collection of PWP set in the heat of summer. Summaries aren't really necessary because there's not much plot, it's generally just hot and sweaty MSR.

Includes:
Too Darn Hot by ML
Ignited by Piper Sargasso
Heat Stroke by TJ
Hot & Sticky by Eponine119
Hot by Beduini

PS. There are more heat fics to come. There are so many that I decided to save some for when the northern hemisphere needs heating up.

Lace-Up Fly series by Jacquie LaVa

26,400 words

Book Cover: Lace-Up Fly series by Jacquie LaVa

A series of stories centered around a boutique, a pair of leather jeans, and De Love!

Lace-Up Fly: What do you get when you mix Fox Mulder, black leather and no underwear? Ask Scully...

Night Train: A whole lotta money for unadulterated power... and our Scully succumbs without a fight...

Leather and Lake Water: What more can you give the couple who has black leather and a Night Train? Maybe some creative ways to utilize their toys...

Hook and Eye: More fashion fun times.

Broom Closet: 'I want to know when I became the prey, instead of the predator...'  This isn’t supposed to be part of the Lace-Up Fly series but Dressing Room #4, which is a follow up to this story, is. Don’t ask me. The more Jacquie LaVa smut, the better IMHO, so it’s here too.

Dressing Room #4: "... I think I've found a way to pay her back..."

Stilettos: It's all about De Shoes...

Jacquie does her humorotica so beautifully. She loves putting our favourite  agents in interesting positions, so to speak.  I originally thought there were only 4 parts to this series, but then I discovered two more stories in this universe, and added an extra one related to one of those.  This is the only place on the intermanets that you'll find this complete series, so enjoy.

Bonus DD in leather pants image included in table of contents for epub and pdf versions.

All Things Bright and Beautiful by DLynn

“Scully, have you ever asked yourself what kind of man would quit his job, leave his family, follow you across the country, and never contact you the entire time he was here. Never once, in ten years, did he call you, or write you, or contact you in any way. What kind of man is that, Scully?”

Daniel is a creepy stalker, and lives are at stake.  This is a wonderful thriller based around Scully's ex, set at the end of the seventh season.

Five Years and One Night by Shalimar

83,000 Words

Book Cover: Five Years and One Night by Shalimar

This story was originally a short post-Kitsunegari vignette. Then by request, Shalimar kept adding parts until it became this masterpiece.  One of the (multitude of) big plot holes of The X-Files that was never addressed by the 1013 writers was the fetus, created from Scully's egg, that Mulder discovered during the episode "Emily." Nor was the emotional fallout of that episode, and its startling revelations, on their partnership ever dealt with during the series.  "Five Years and One Night" addresses both of those issues, through the creation of an alternative universe that begins in the aftermath of "Kitsunegari", then takes off into its own complicated plot-line six months later, when Mulder arrives to disrupt the carefully reordered life that Scully has created for herself across the continent, away from him and the X-Files. An emotional tale, set in the exotic surroundings of Singapore.

I decided that I just had to post this story, but I'm happy to remove it on request.  I'm counting on the fact that it's 21 years old now and if Shalimar ever even thinks of the story any more, she'd be happy to know that it's still being enjoyed.  This is super-angsty Emily fallout fic, with loads of action including some wild and frenzied adult action. It's definitely a classic.

Flights of Fancy by Pebbles

55,000 words

Book Cover: Flights of Fancy by Pebbles

Flights of Fancy Series, includes:

Fancy Dance : PG-13 :  Scully faces another Valentine's Day alone - until she gets her Irish up.

Fancy Footwork : NC-17 : The morning after the night before as last seen in "Fancy Dance"

Fancy Three: PG-13 : Season Six, a little later on the morning after the night before seen in "Fancy Dance" and "Fancy Footwork"

Tickled Fancy: NC-17 : Season Six, after the events of Milagro

Fancy Toppings : R

Midsummer Night's Fancy : R

Fancy Harvest :  PG-13

Fancy Fall:  PG-13 - um, okay, R - but I still maintain this is not smut. No matter what Ropo says. 😉

Fancy Foreplay :  Robbie *made* me rate this NC-17; no bad language, tho. Still say it ain't smut.

Fancy Haunts :  NC-17. But *I* wouldn't call it smut.

Fancy Phone : R for racy language, implied smut : Set sometime in Season Seven, obviously pre-Requiem :  extra fic, not in Collector's Edition from the annex.

My head is in full on anxiety mode and I can't quite remember what happens in this one.  All I remember is that I was pleasantly surprised by this fic, and I've given it the following tags: ^, >, 1, 1>, Bch, CabW, P°, Pg, Sinit.  They might not mean much to you, but they tell me that they go to a forest, Scully runs out, there's first time sex, someone has regret after the first time, there's a beach, a cabin in the woods and outdoor sex, not necessarily in that order. Also, someone gets pregnant (probably not Mulder) and Scully initiates the romance.  I did enjoy it and it was hailed as one of Fred and Ginger's Smut Classics, so I hope you enjoy it regardless of my inability to remember what actually happens in it.

Inebriation Series by BarenakedBostonian

25,000 words

Book Cover: Inebriation Series by BarenakedBostonian

Some more trashy smut with no plot to concern yourself with. Probably best enjoyed drunk.  I've included a link to the fanfiction.net version, however it's missing the final chapter.

Heineken: The first in the series, Mulder and Scully go out for some post-case drinks, primarily beer.
Merlot:  Mulder and Scully discuss the happenings of the previous story, drink wine and eat salad and chicken.
Smirnoff: Another night with our two favorite agents. Substitute the wine for some vodka and shake...
Cuervo Gold: Mulder and Scully go to a Halloween party? With the Gunmen? Yes and yes, but it's believeable! With tequila, now we're getting  somewhere!
Courvoisier: Mulder and Scully go out to dinner and don't get drunk! Okay, so they're a little tipsy, but he shows her how much she means to him.
Mike's Hard Lemonade*: A power hour and some Mike's hard lemonade... on a hot and sticky night.
Jello Shots*: Jello is just so jiggly! How much fun can Mulder and Scully have with it?
*written with TriplePirouette

My depression and anxiety have been troubling me for the past week or so, so I'm trying to self-medicate with some mindless drunkfic.

Reflections of a Rainy Night & Morning’s Promise by DLynn

25,000 words

Book Cover: Reflections of a Rainy Night & Morning's Promise by DLynn
  1. An innocent question at a crime scene leads Mulder into a contemplative night.
  2. “Hmm…chocolate and moonshine. There’s got to be a song in there somewhere.”

I imagine that doing the naked pretzel in the rain and the mud would be quite uncomfortable, but I love that Mulder and Scully just can't resist that urge.  There might be a case file in here somewhere, I can't quite remember the non-smut content that well. 😀

The main dustjacket is a combination of the original Reflections of a Rainy Night cover by Tracy DC below, and the Morning's Promise mud scene cover I made which is in the ePub & PDF version.

Seeds of Synchronicity by Mountainphile

91,000 words

Book Cover: Seeds of Synchronicity by Mountainphile
Part of the Synchronicity Universe series:

Six years after the events of "Aubrey," Scully and Mulder revisit the Missouri town to confront old demons and lay new ones to rest.

Mountainphile takes us back to the town of Aubrey late in Season 7,  where murders continue despite their solving the case way back in Season 2.  She also manages to tie some mytharc-related Scully angst in, all while Mulder and Scully are attempting the navigate recent changes to their relationship.  I'm in awe of authors who can write complex plotlines whilst keeping our heroes in character and tossing in some angsty sexytimes, and  Mountainphile is definitely awesome.  It's this clever use of the characters that I wish we'd seen more of on screen at the time in place of episodes like Fight Club. Whilst in canon the mytharc got out of control with as much as possible crammed into double- or triple-eps, I would have liked to have seen the occasional monster of the week eps include a little aspect of it here and there in the way Mountainphile's done it, rather than a massive dump of ever-changing overly-complex mytharc a few times each season.  But that could just be me. 🙂

Eden Series by Jacquie LaVa

66,000 words

Book Cover: Eden Series by Jacquie LaVa

Part One: The Other Side of Eden - If you had your memories torn away from you... the very essence of what made you human... what would you become? Mulder and Scully are about to find out...

Part Two: Eden in the City - As Mulder and Scully attempt to make a life for themselves and their new child, the creator of the deadly serum just won't let them be...

Part Three: Re-Inventing Eden - Mulder and Scully are forced to send their child into hiding to save him from the threat of a monstrous threat...

Part Four: To Keep Eden Safe - Upon the receipt of yet more threatening notes, and the enforced protection of our Agents' only child... Mulder and Scully must face the evidence at hand, and find a way to trap a monster...

Part Five: Regaining Eden - It's time to get it back, all of it... and Mulder and Scully are ready to kick ass...

I wanted to find a daddy!Mulder fic to post for US Fathers' Day, but I'm allergic to kidfic.  I've made it through the thoroughly enjoyable first book in this series before my kidficphobia set in and I couldn't go on. It's nothing to do with the actual fic, which is by an author I adore and comes recommended by others, it's my own issue which I wish I could overcome...

In The Other Side of Eden Mulder and Scully are dumped on a deserted island, having been given a serum to erase all their memory.  Angst & smut ensues, and I assume continues on into the remainder of the series.  The tags cover the first book, but I can't confirm whether or not they apply to the rest.

Wine Series by Dianora

28,000 words

Book Cover: Wine Series by Dianora

Alcohol consumption and sex.  Pure mind candy with little redeeming social value.

Smut. Drunken, wild, crazy smut. Dianora lets them loose in the office,  at a renaissance fair, and on a pier by the lake, among other places.  Not only that, but there's more fun to do with board games and the mile high club.  What the story may lack in social value, it delivers in hot sexy times for this extremely dynamic and enthusiastic duo. The smut tags on this one rival those on One-Upmanship,  You're welcome. 😀

One-Upmanship by TBishop & Jacquie LaVa

47,000 words

Book Cover: One-Upmanship by TBishop & Jacquie LaVa

Includes the prequel: Dormi Con Mi Socio by TBishop: Translation is roughly 'I Slept With My Partner' or so I am told.

One-Upmanship: To keep a great relationship going requires imagination and creativity - and our erstwhile FBI agents become a little too successful for their own good...

This is pure, unabashed smut, with a little bit of story thrown in for good measure. These two magnificent authors pool their depravity in an effort to raise the bar with regards to smutfic.  While the premise of this fic may not be entirely realistic, it's a fun fantasy (until it's not) - I particularly love Jacquie LaVa for her willingness to go anywhere for the sake of a satisfying experience. This one garnered more smut tags than any other fic I've posted.

You might recognise Jacquie LaVa's work as originally being published under a different name.  Unfortunately she withdrew a lot of her fics when she began publishing her own novels. Only the stories she co-authored remained on gossamer , reassigned to this pen name. I'm hoping to contact her to beg her to be allowed to republish the ones she wrote alone when I have the time to dedicate to giving that special little project all I have. 🙂

Butterflies All Tied Up Universe by bugs

40,000 words

Book Cover: Butterflies All Tied Up Universe by bugs

Butterflies All Tied Up: Mulder and Scully are back to work at the X-files, but a madman in their midst finally sends their relationship in a new direction, and someone is watching.

Orchids in Bloom: A fluffy bit of smut, so those persons who are on a higher plane should fly away. Mulder comes home drunk from a bachelor's party and gets the third degree.

Even Doves Have Pride: In the three whirlwind months since M/S have become involved, you'd think they would be entwined in a congenial
union. Perhaps, but suddenly things are moving too quickly for Scully.

Even Doves Have Pride II: The moment of truth has arrived for Mulder and he's suffering from some anxiety.

This is bugs' first foray into fan fiction, which she acknowledges may be a tad unrealistic.  That thought did cross my mind on occasion, but it's not too difficult to go with it.  The entire story is told through the eyes of a third person, giving it a voyeuristic feel.  But I do love a third party perspective on the complicated Mulder-Scully relationship.

I'm now re-releasing this one as I've added the remaining stories in this universe to the file.  Bugs kindly created artwork for each of the stories, which you can find in the ePub & PDF versions.

Book Cover: After the Future by Donna

An epic post-colonization series. This includes the complete story and the bonus extras.

Carrot and the Stick & The Clock Watcher by Plausible Deniability

7,500 words

Book Cover: Carrot and the Stick & The Clock Watcher by Plausible Deniability

The Carrot & the Stick: A sexual encounter with Scully results in additional angst for Mulder.

The Clock Watcher: After a less-than-confidence-building sexual encounter with Scully, Mulder determines to do better.

PD demonstrates that for an excitable Mulder, being with his true love for the first time may not turn out to leave the intended impression.  But he's nothing if not persistent.

Part of the cover for this one was lifted from PD's website.

Shut Up, Mulder & Bitch by David S

Mulder and Scully go on a stakeout in rural backwoods Virginia. Scully gets her man.

Sequel - Maggie Scully makes an observation. Scully makes things right.

!very mildly (if at all) dubcon, dom!Scully.

Two amusing stories: A perp that gets away, and some naughty little forest critters who also get away (after getting a show from two agents on a stakeout and taking some of their clothes with them). There's also an accidental switch-flicking faux pas during a second stakeout fail, and Scully makes Mulder pay for a few faux pas of his own. That might not make sense but I'm tired.

Platonic I - Mulder and Scully discuss Platonic Love and define their relationship.

A teasing, mild-dom!Mulder makes sure Scully knows exactly how he feels.

Alternative Season 8 – Volume 4

46,000 words

The final volume of the Alternative Season 8 project contains:

Vienen by Tiffany & Jo
Alone by Juliettt
Essence by Kristel St Johns
Existence by Kristel St Johns
Evolution by Kristel St Johns
Extras: About the Authors & Secrets of AS8 Special

Note: These episodes are in a different order from the aired episodes, and should be read in the AS8 order to get the most enjoyment from them.  Please make sure you read Volumes One,   Two and Three before embarking on Volume Four.

Kristel and the AS8 crew wrap things up and tie it all in a neat little bow for us in this final installment of Alternative Season 8.  There's an extra episode that gives the original run (and any subsequent outings for that matter) more of an ending that Chris Carter could dream of.

If you haven't visited the website, each episode not only had cover art but  an animated trailer, so it's worth a visit.

The final batch of Kimberly's dustjackets

Alternative Season 8 – Volume 3

60,000 words

Volume Three contains the episodes:

Via Negativa by Jaz
Salvage by Heather
Surekill by Sam
Empedocles by Jo & Hazel
Dead Alive by Nancy
Three Words by Tracy

Note: These episodes are in a different order from the aired episodes, and should be read in the AS8 order to get the most enjoyment from them.  Please make sure you read Volume One and Volume Two before embarking on Volume Three.

Again major improvements were made to these episodes, but the one that blew me away most was "Salvage".  It was completely replaced with a mytharc episode, which is full of action and makes the mess of mytharc so much better.  It was one of those (many) moments reading fanfic where I was gobsmacked at just how good the idea was and how it made so much sense to do it that way.  It's disappointing that it's not the creator showing this much love and respect for the characters, their development, and the stories, but fans of the show.  Thank any an all deities for fan fiction writers of this calibre.

Alternative Season 8 – Volume 2

60,000 words

Volume 2 of Alternative Season 8 contains the following episodes:

PerManum by Kristel St Johns
Roadrunners by XochiLuvr
This Is Not Happening by Jo & Tracy
Patience by MaryAnn
Badlaa by Elizabeth & Alicia
Redrum by Lara Means

Note: These episodes are in a different order from the aired episodes, and should be read in the AS8 order to get the most enjoyment from them.  Please make sure you read Volume One before embarking on Volume Two.

These talented writers managed to improve all these episodes exponentially, and believe it or not actually managed to pull a decent story out of Badlaa.

The very creative Kimberly produced the following art work for these episodes:

Alternative Season 8 – Volume 1

54,500 words

Alternative Season 8 is a retelling of the episodes aired during the eighth season of The X-Files, utilizing the same starting point (the 7th-season finale, "Requiem") and the same essential story premises. We do this in hopes of demonstrating that, given the same basic storylines, there was a better way this season could have been handled, a higher road the producers could have taken. Departures from characterization will be rectified, needless and senseless continuity errors will be fixed, and bad storytelling and plot devices will be eliminated.

These are not "novelizations" of the episodes, as such, nor are they screenplays. They are written in the third person, present tense, but with a minimum of narration. This eliminates the more distracting elements of reading a screenplay, while still focusing on the dialogue and actions. Everyone reading these episodes is aware of show, the actors, and how what happens would have been portrayed. Beyond the essential elements of action and dialogue, we leave the fans to supply the rest--the spirit and emotion of the story--with their imaginations and preexisting knowledge of the characters and situations of "The X-Files."

Some text from aired eighth season episodes will be used directly, and some will be discarded or edited to suit the spirit of Alternative Season 8. The idea is not to claim that the eighth season of "The X-Files" never happened, but to demonstrate that it could have happened better.

We do this because we love the show, and we are distressed by the direction it has taken. Because we want to renew our faith in these characters who have become a part of ourselves. Because we want to make the show better, to recreate the show we loved once again.

The AS8 writers also provided a complete zip file of .txt versions which I'll attach as a download option with this volume.  There's also a link to their website in the download area.  I'm getting intermittent 404 errors so if it disappears you can view it via archive.org.

It's important to note that in addition to rewriting the episodes, the authors have re-ordered them to have the season flow better, so episodes may not be where you expect them to be.  There are 22 episodes in the Alternative Season 8, which I've split into 4 volumes.  The first contains:

Introduction: About VS8
Within by Kristel St Johns
Without by Kristel St Johns
The Gift by ga
Invocation by Jo
Medusa by Samantha Wilkinson

Alternat(iv)e Season 8 was arguably the best thing to come out of Season 8. These talented authors turned a season which was rather problematic into a much more palatable one, which unfortunately for TenThirteen really highlights  just how poor the efforts by CC et al were.  This is my replacement canon for season 8. Actually I have very little acceptance of any seasons after season 7 so it's quite a compliment to these authors that I'm willing to begrudgingly consider that it may have happened 😀

I can't remember whether they treated Mulder's ridiculous brain disease as a real thing or a hoax (or just ignored it), but I do have AS8x03 "The Gift" marked as a fic I really enjoyed, so I'm confident they fixed it somehow.

Kimberly made all the dustjackets for the series (except the consolidated volumes - please don't blame her for those!).  Original covers are included in the downloaded volumes and on the webpage.

Calendar Girl Series by Jori

160,000 words

Book Cover: Calendar Girl Series by Jori

Calendar Girl I follows Mulder and Scully through season six and seven.

  • BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL- Mulder's real Christmas present comes shortly after Scully hands him that little wrapped package after 'How The Ghosts Stole Christmas.' They spend their first night together under shimmering blue Christmas lights before meeting one of the Scully brothers. NC-17
  • CHIMES- A continuation of my "Blue Light Special" story, this one takes place over New Year's Eve and day, with Bill Scully dropping by for a guest appearance. NC-17
  • GREENHOUSE EFFECT - Mulder and Scully break free from doing background checks to go 'investigate' an exotic flower grower in Florida. Smut follows. This story line would take place after Tithonius, but before Two Fathers. And there is no such person as Diana Fowley. NC-17
  • EVER GREEN - After the events of One Son and Arcadia, Mulder and Scully try to get their relationship back on track. NC-17
  • SPRING AHEAD -Set immediately after the events of Alpha, Scully sends Mulder on an Easter egg hunt with a surprise at the end. NC-17
  • BROKEN SOUND - After the events of Milagro, Mulder and Scully race against time and the elements to find a missing boy. NC-17
  • TREASURED - Mulder explores Scully's past at her mother's house on Mother's Day. NC-17 .
  • KNOWN BUT TO GOD - Over Memorial Day weekend, Mulder is haunted by a mysterious visitor in his 'sleep' who says that only he can help him. NC-17
  • THE VERY BEST -Mulder discovers one of those 'holidays' that seems to be invented by a 'card company,' and makes a mistake which he later tries to rectify. NC-17
  • SUMMER DREAMS - Over the Fourth of July weekend, Mulder is presented with the opportunity to give Scully everything she wants. Can he? And is it what she really wants? NC-17

  • SIX BILLION -Mulder celebrates his 38th birthday. NC-17
  • HEART OF THE MATTER - Set right before the events of Biogenesis, Mulder and Scully investigate an unusual occurrence in an empty house on Halloween night. NC-17
  • RIGHT VOICE - Set during Sixth Extinction, Mulder is faced with several options. R
  • TIDES - In the last chapter of the Calendar Girl Series, Mulder discovers all the reasons to live this life. NC-17
  • FULL CIRCLE - Mulder and Scully celebrate the new millennium and 'one year' together. NC-17

Calendar Girl II - NOTE: THIS SERIES REMAINS INCOMPLETE.
I wish it had been finished, but I still enjoyed it knowing that I'd be left hanging. The plot is way better than CC's, and there are flashbacks to Season 7 episodes to keep the smut quota up.  You can choose whether or not to continue with CGII after CGI.

Their relationship survived the first year, but then everything changed. With one of the partners missing, the other goes on a quest of her own. Scully's new partner, Agent Nicole Larson, appeared in only one tiny segment of a story in Calendar Girl I.

  • MARKING TIME - After the events of Requiem, Scully is faced with being without Mulder and with a new partner, a woman Mulder knows and Scully only met once before. NC-17
  • SEEING YOU - As Father's Day approaches, the search for Mulder continues. NC-17
  • EVERYTHING - On the Fourth of July, Scully ponders last year and what she has now that she didn't have then, and most importantly, what's now missing. NC-17
  • ONLY YOU - Scully's quest to find Mulder takes on even more twists and turns. R

Path of Salt, A by Analise

40,000 Words

Book Cover: Path of Salt, A by Analise

After taking their relationship to a new level, Mulder ditches Scully yet again to help an old friend solve an unusual murder in the Southeast deserts of Utah.

I love a good ditch. This is a classic Mulder!Ditch, but I'm an equal opportunity ditchist.  It brings with it all the associated angst, along with our heroes being in a rather perilous position where lives are at stake.

Carpe Felis Mortuus & Perforance Art? by Heathers and NicoleVanDam

21,700 words

Book Cover: Carpe Felis Mortuus & Perforance Art? by Heathers and NicoleVanDam

Carpe Felis Mortuus: How far would Mulder & Scully go for a little nookie?

Performance Art?: Mulder and Scully delve into the world of Modern Art… Some might call that kinky

According to Nic, this is 265.98% SMUT.  CFM is a rampantly smutcentric fic involving a frustrated Scully, a teasing Mulder, a beach, a rental car, and the line: "We're going to wash this car like you've never washed one before in your life."  It's early in their physical relationship and Scully's at a convention, so the sexual tension is extreme and they're both a bit desperate when Mulder turns up.

I've also added Performance Art? which is described by the authors as an homage to CFM. Unfortunately the "Carpe 2" mentioned in the headers for this fic has never eventuated to my knowledge.

I actually tried a few different illustrations of the car wash scene for this cover over the years, and thankfully I finally managed to make one that wasn't too porny!  😀

More Than a River by Flynn

69,000 words

Book Cover: More Than a River by Flynn

What would it take for Scully to admit some things to herself? How would Mulder take the news? Nomoros, here be dragons.

This includes the 12 parts of More than a River. I really enjoyed reading this one. *PDF Link now fixed

What Doesn’t Kill Us… by K Benton

83,000 words

Book Cover: What Doesn't Kill Us... by K Benton

Mulder and Scully struggle with issues of trust and betrayal during and after the events after Fight the Future.

It includes:

  • Betrayal From Within
  • Betrayals From Without
  • The Ultimate Betrayal
  • Even the Strong Will Crumble

Some extra angst for the Easter break.

This is a masterful series by Katherine Benton that sees some major changes in Mulder and Scully's personal and professional lives, and tugs on the heartstrings a little. This is the only fic I've read that deals, among other things, with Mulder's discovery that his body was used for sex without his consent during Dreamland.  It's a deliciously angsty fic, with far better use of the Mytharc than the show gave us (not that that's difficult).

Peaks of Insanity & Valleys of Lucidity by XRae

36,000 words

Book Cover: Peaks of Insanity & Valleys of Lucidity by XRae

Peaks of Insanity: Deeply affected while profiling a difficult case, Mulder reaches the limit of his mental endurance. How far is Scully willing to go to bring him back from the edge?

Valleys of Lucidity: Six months after their experience in Dayton, Mulder and Scully's relationship is slowly, and silently, falling apart.

I love this anguished, insane Profiler!Mulder who only Scully can connect with and bring back.

This is starting to get ridiculous. After looking for XRae's website to link to for the old skool version, I discovered XRae had already made covers for her fics.  Unfortunately the version of her website I'd downloaded didn't have them... so after spending hours getting the image made and attached to the EPUB and PDF versions it's staying, but here are the lovely covers XRae did!

Sex, Violence & A Complicated Fable by Beduini

19,200 words

Book Cover: Sex, Violence & A Complicated Fable by Beduini

Sex, Violence & Filling in the Gaps:  Hello! It’s me! (dancing on pointe) Here to ply you with more shameless fantastical MSR! (demi-plie) In this episode, a conversation goes slightly off topic. (sissonne fermee) Enjoy!  Post episode for FPS.

Sequel - A Complicated Fable: A very smutty romp through Los Angeles. Post episodic for all things, Brand X, and Hollywood A.D.

I love the way Beduini's dirty mind works. She begins this pair of stories with some intense UST, then takes us to its natural conclusion, and beyond.

What Was Taken, What Was Lost by Sunflowerseedsandscience

26,400 words

Book Cover: What Was Taken, What Was Lost by Sunflowerseedsandscience

Mulder and Scully, still reeling from the events of Christmas, 1997, go undercover as a honeymooning couple at a romantic retreat in upstate New York to investigate a series of suspicious suicides and accidental deaths.

Being undercover as a couple is normally difficult for this pair, but Sunflowerseedsandscience ups the ante in this story, set right after Emily.

Ramp Series by OKayVal

14,800 words

Book Cover: Ramp Series by OKayVal

I figured some PWP was in order after recent angsty fics posted.

Ramp Series combined.

  • Ramp I - The Right Angle: A Valentine’s Day surprise for Scully
  • Ramp II - A Different Angle: Scully’s turn to surprise Mulder.
  • Ramp III - Surprise Angle: "Escape is at hand for the travelin' man (and woman)!"
  • Ramp IV - From Every Angle: Mulder can't wait, as usual...

The original cover art was done by Donnilee, which I combined and made pretty for the series cover. 🙂  The images are also on the linked web page, so try to avoid opening any of the links while you're at church.
