Romantic cover

After her cancer goes into remission, Scully begins to question the direction of her life. Mulder confronts his feelings as she turns to another man. The partners conduct a ‘romantic’ experiment and realize that the answer to Scully’s restlessness may not be farther than her best friend.

Poor Scully's given up on getting anywhere with Mulder after the failed attempt in Detour. After putting her life on hold with the cancer she decided she didn't want any more of life to pass her by, but finds it's hard to date someone else when your interests are elsewhere...

I live for some Jealous!Mulder. It may not be as far along the angst scale as I prefer, but Mulder skirts the edge of assholery as he tries to deal with his bitter jealousy.  This story may also skirt the edge of schmaltz, but I'm sure that if Scully can forgive Mulder, a little mushiness can also be overlooked.  Admittedly I probably have a much lower mush-tolerance than most people, I like to hurt. 😀

Truly Madly Deeply (Classic Edition) by Jenna Tooms

60,000 Words

TMD (classic version) cover.

Mulder and Scully face the biggest adventure of all: parenthood.

**NOTE** This is the original story, before a complete rewrite. I would not recommend reading this unless you've already read Truly Madly Deeply I-V.

Happy Mother's Day again. This is the bonus fic for the bonus fic posted last night. This is the original draft of Truly Madly Deeply, which Jenna left on her website as "Truly Madly Deeply - Classic Version" after completing her full revision.

Normally I wouldn't post the original version of a rewritten story but this is an exception for a number of reasons: Jenna retained both versions on her site, they're vastly different stories apart from the underlying premise, and this one is a good story in its own right.

You can safely read both versions without knowing what will happen, however as "TMD Redux" is far richer in detail, action and plot I'd strongly recommend reading the revised version before this one to keep up the level of suspense. This one is a little sappier and possibly smuttier but doesn't have the same level of action and suspense.

Out of the Cold Series by Vicki S

21,000 Words

Out of the Cold cover

Out of the Cold: Mulder leaves Scully ‘out in the cold’, literally, and has to warm her up. Let your imagination take it from there,

Little Red Corvette: Mulder and Scully take some time off in sunny California just to enjoy each other, but end up not being able to deny who, and what, they really are.

Making Up is Hard to Do: A fight, a case, a question that may never get asked if the agents can’t make up.

This is like three fics in one. OK, so it is literally three fics in one, so that might be why, but what I mean is that each of the stories has a different feel.  It starts out with some PWP-like action, then heads into fluffy territory for the second story, before becoming more of a case file in the third story.

Some fourth season MSR for your enjoyment.

Twelfth Voyage by Parrotfish

4,000 Words

Twelfth Voyage cover

An intimate journey of discovery solves everything and nothing.

This is a moving vignette spectacularly crafted by Parrotfish for your enjoyment.

There's a NSFW version of this cover image available at the secret "Under the Covers" album on x-trash. The password to use is "smut".

My Way or the Highway by Rachel Anton

36,000 Words

My Way or the Highway cover

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

Note: Whilst this is an MSR overall, that's not its primary focus. This is dark and dirty... it features a very disillusioned Scully who is looking for reassurance elsewhere when she's not getting it from Mulder. No hearts and flowers here.

You know I like a side of angst, particularly when Mulder's being an ass in early season 6. This story documents an unconventional road trip with both Scully and Krycek feeling a little bitter over their circumstances.

Behaving Badly by LeeLee

22,000 Words

Book Cover: Behaving Badly by LeeLee

Mulder is bound to behave badly if his freedom is curtailed.

I love the premise of this one. Scully is charged with keeping Mulder occupied, away from DC.  She has to resort to extreme measures to constrain an insolent Mulder.  The UST is off the charts.

More outdoor smut. I'm sensing a theme here.

Bend in the Road (The) by Kelly K

12,000 Words

Bend in the Road cover

I am angry right now. I’m not sure what galls me the most—that Mulder left and made me worry about him, that he ditched me to be with Diana Fowley, or how I reacted when I learned that he hadn’t been alone on his little hiatus. At first I was just angry with Mulder, but now I’m also angry with myself. I’ve behaved foolishly and I’m not sure how to retreat. I have fallen in love with Mulder and I don’t know how to stop.

When I last posted, I was about to get back on the road to drive home. I got home and fell apart. I haven't been able to even read fanfic in the last 5 months. I have a lot of catching up to do...

I thought it would be appropriate to post a couple of Mulder/Scully on-the-road fics. Their road trips are far more exciting than mine.  This one comes after the angst of One Son, and Scully is questioning her future with Mulder. Don't worry, there's a happy ending...

Desire is Suffering by Darwin

18,000 Words

Desire is suffering cover

Scully makes a difficult decision which forever alters her life, her career, and her relationship with Mulder.

Scully out-ditches Mulder in this one, leaving him with some major separation anxiety.  Sweet angst in Darwin's first XF fanfic.

Familiar Heart, A by Mish

72,000+ Words

A Familiar Heart cover

The Best Years of our Lives meets Magnificent Obsession Mulder and Scully style.  An alternative universe story, set in the 1940s.

This includes the sequel, An Unchanged Soul, which actually brings the word count up to 203,000 words.  This second story is unfinished, so it's up to you whether you embark on the extra 130,000 words knowing that there will be no ultimate resolution.

I don't usually read alternate universe stories, but I started this one without realising and had to keep reading.

This one had enough tension to keep me hooked the whole way. I've included the incomplete sequel. Mish tended to write a lot of stories at the same time, and consequently there are quite a few of hers that were never completed.  I was tossing up whether to include this story here due to the disappointment when I found the sequel wasn't complete, but the original story is worthwhile. You can decide for yourself whether to keep reading.

Shadows on the Sun : Summer by Abracadabra

95,000 Words

Shadows on the Sun cover
Part of the Seasons series:

Mulder and Scully are called to Boston by Agents Mitchell Court and Joani Spark to help investigate a case.  An old adversary is involved.

CW! Sexual assault

Mulder and Scully haven't been together long before a regular problem raises its particularly ugly head.  My favourite type of fic. 😀

This is Volume 2 or the 3 volume Seasons series, but it's not essential to read "Snowed Inn" first.

This Thing of Darkness by Tara Avery

52,000 Words

This Thing of Darkness cover

It was supposed to be a simple investigation of a serial killer... until the mind of the killer was made known. Mulder struggles against truths and lies in the mind of a murderer, while Scully fights against shadows and conspiracies for the sanity of her partner.

Content Warning: Profiler!Mulder is violent towards Scully a number of times in this story.

Tara writes beautifully, so at least while she's putting you through an emotional wringer you can appreciate that she's doing it with such vivid imagery.  😉  This is one for the angst addicts. Be prepared to hurt for a while.

Yee Haw & Much More by Satina

61,000 Words

Yee Hawj & more cover

Yee-haw : Rated NC-17, MSR RST, H : Mulder and Scully go undercover (or is that under covers?) as a married couple working on a ranch. When Mulder is injured in a sensitive place, who will provide the TLC he needs?

Two of a Kind : Rated NC-17, MSR RST, dub-con elements : Post-ep to "Three of a Kind" in which the Lone Gunmen find Scully under the influence of the injected drug and instead of just knocking her out, they call Mulder.

If I Were Her... : Rated NC-17, M/S : Musings of a fellow female agent.
If I Were Him... : Rated NC-17, M/S : Musings of a fellow male agent.

Drawing a Bath : Rated NC-17, MSR, UST, 'bation : Scully draws a bath while talking with Mulder on the phone.

OutFoxed : Rated NC-17, Sc/O, MSR RST : Scully has a boyfriend. Mulder doesn't like him. All is not what it seems.

Rose Petal : Rated PG , MSR : Post-ep to "Never Again" in which Mulder's thoughts during Scully's absence are examined. Sorry, no smut here, just an angst-fest.

Not Everything Is About You : Rated NC-17, MSR, BDSM : Another "Never Again" post-ep. "You know, this is unacceptable. If he's going to treat me like his slave, he's gonna learn to do it right."

This last story includes Krycek non-con with Scully so I've put it at the end should you wish to skip it.

Dark Secrets : Rated NC-17, Sc/K non-con, MSR RST : Post-ep to "Paper Clip" in which instead of Krycek and Cardinal shooting Scully's sister at her apartment, Krycek goes to Scully's apartment, ties her up and makes her call Mulder, who has to watch while he does nasty things to her.

This anthology doesn't include Not an Exercise in Subtlety or Risky Business, which are already available at x-libris.

Before Satina went over to the slash side, and occasionally afterwards, she wrote some extremely satisfying MSR erotica. She had a gift for capturing the intense desire our agents had for one another. These are those stories (plus one PG fic and minus the ones above that I've already posted here.)

If you're interested in reading Satina's Mulder/Krycek fics, they can be found at HegalPlace.com on wayback.

Kacaso made covers for many of these fics, but sadly few of the M/S ones remain.

Changing Tides by QofMush

25,000 Words

Changing Tides cover

Who says change is all bad?

Strange that although it had been Scully who’d done all the fighting to get the X-Files reopened, it was Mulder who received the late message on his machine.... xfiles to reopen with Mulder, Scully, Fowley & Spender.

While Scully's jealousy is getting the better of her, Mulder's a bit of an asshole, siding with the Fowl One in this, so Scully has to ditch him in order to save Gibson. I would have liked worse things to have happened to Fowley, but QofMush isn't as cruel as me, obviously

Contradiction by AmandaRex

3,800 Words

Contradiction cover

It may seem like there’s a plot, but bear with me. I promise it has pretty much no bearing on the true meaning of this story at all. I wrote it to fulfill my personal smut quotient for the week.

Although this is set after the UnNatural, it's more of a post-ep for Milagro.

Hump day PWP. 🙂 Although this is set after the UnNatural, it's more of a post-ep for Milagro.  I'm not sure what else to say about this one - maybe don't expect a lot of romance.

Human Credentials by Scarlet Baldy

73,000 Words

Book Cover: Human Credentials by Scarlet Baldy

As both agents decide to forget what almost happened in that hallway, Scully tries to deal with a clinical depression which was just waiting to happen. The fact that Mulder resumed his relationship with Fowley is not helping. A mysterious letter sends him on another wild goose chase in a country far far away. Scully and Fowley ‘try’ to temper their mutual animosity to find him. The agents will find out that travelling can be a mind altering experience, in the true sense of the word.

This story begins right after the movie and gradually evolves into its own alternate universe. A.D Kersh never existed, the Consortium didn’t turn to ashes, and Fowley never worked - or slept - with CSM.

Book II - Lendemains
This is the morning after Human Credentials' last book ended. Mulder, Scully and her clone Faye are on the run. The world is being ravaged by a mysterious and lethal virus. And the bees are back.  NOTE: THIS STORY IS INCOMPLETE BUT INCLUDED HERE FOR THE CURIOUS.  There are only 5 chapters so it barely begins, unfortunately. You might be able to consider it an epilogue. 🙂

I only have one cover for this one, but I have the thumbnails for the rest.  The HC1 front and back cover are by Pinky and the HC2 front and back cover are by Invisigoth.

Colombian Exchange by Taylor

32,000 Words

Book Cover: Colombian Exchange by Taylor

It's a story about coffee, terrorism, love, sex, and families, though not necessarily in that order. What happens when a third agent is assigned to the X-Files - a female agent? What happens when Mulder starts dating that agent? What happens when Scully requests a transfer? Cancer rears its ugly head, as does Bill Scully, Jr.

Mulder's a complete arsehole in this story, but it makes for juicy angst, and if Scully's willing to forgive then who am I to judge?  He likes to push her away to protect her from himself.  This is a Mulder/other to MSR but there's nothing graphic for the /other.

Kimpa originally did a cover for this, but the thumbnail is all that remains of it.  I've increased it to more than twice the size so you don't have to squint quite so much and it's still tiny.

Miles to Go Series by MD1016

22,500 Words

Book Cover: Miles to Go Series by MD1016

Mulder and Scully in the desert, talking to each other through tin can phones.

This is a nice 'n' angsty jealousy/betrayal story involving the incredibly dislikable Diana Fowley.  Scully issues an ultimatum and a proposition.  Mulder considers the options.

I'm getting closer to fixing everything, but there may still be temporary breakages as I'm still doing long-overduebackground stuff. Thanks for being patient.
